Per the recommendation of our hotel concierge, went for a quick, light dinner. Our waitress seemed to be annoyed that we wanted to not have wine and split a meal. “You are going to have a few glasses of wine right....should order a full meal” or something of that nature. One of the two salads, the tomato/cucumber salad was full of overly ripe tomatoes that fouled the taste. The replacement arugula salad was not much better. The snapper was coated with a tomato paste (ketchup?) that was beyond salty. Combined with the surly service, a most disappointing experience.

Was here with a few friends who were visiting NZ. Even on a Wednesday night there was a 30 minute wait for a table, which tells you that this is going to be a good place to eat, The snapper was very good, and the sides of vegetables were very tasty.
Would recommend for special occasions, or if you're just after some real yum food.

We have had the worst experience ever at this restaurant tonight, and would strongly recommend going elsewhere - plenty of wonderful places to eat in Auckland. From the time we arrived, staff were quite rude. Our 19 year old son and daughter in law, both nicely dressed for our daughter's birthday, were turned away by the over zealous 'thug' bouncer for no reason whatsoever when we had a reservation. The same thug was once again rude and disrespectful when we left. The restaurant was nothing short of a circus - baby crying for long periods, guests shouting abuse and complaints for the crying baby, and our daughter ended up in tears as the evening was horrendous. We love to eat out, doing this often, but we would definitely advise against Soul. The food was acceptable, but really nothing special, and the evening was one to remember for all the wrong reasons. What a waste of money, when there are so many lovely choices in Auckland - try Ostro, Sugar Club, Sidhart, French Cafe, Botswana Butchery - anywhere decent but this one, we will definitely not be back.

Had delightful lunch on Easter Saturday. Beautiful location, great staff. Ordered the roasted hapuku, crayfish raviolo, truffle dressing, and beach spinach. Food was served quickly and was very fresh. slightly disappointed at the serving size. I received a small to medium fillet with one small ravioli and a handful of microscopic spinach. Don't get me wrong - the food was nice. fish was cooked to perfection in the middle - little dry on the thinner end pieces - crayfish was nice, Dressing okay. I would have gladly paid $25 - $32 for this but honestly $40 for a fish fillet!!!! no matter how nice it is presented and cooked.

Anyway, I had the Triplebank Marlborough 2017 Pinot Gris - great little wine. For dessert i had their Affogato with Frangelico. Divine. Beautifully presented in a martini glass with a delicious chocolate disc separating the Frangelico and the icecream. Espressro shot was strong and just complimented everything so well.

Overall, nice experience, but not somewhere I would go on a regular basis but only for special occassions.

With a fantastic outlook over the Viaduct Harbour this is a top venue. Menu is biased to seafood which is excellent, but other options are also high quality based on what others in our party chose. Staff are very attentive and professional.
