Wonderful views, cozy atmosphere! Definitely can recommend for families or group of friends. Some neighbours downstairs, but usually quite and nice. Paihia is a dream place itself. Friendly people as well as at the house!

Amazing location with a stunning view. Less than a 5 minute walk to the pier, restaurants, supermarket, etc. You have to cope with walking back up the hill on the way back, but it isn't that bad and the view is worth it. Everything in the room was thought of. The furnishings, bathrooms, appliances were all updated, and the amenities were numerous. We stayed in the 10 person room which was excellent. Amazing outdoor BBQ and table. Kitchen was large and had everything you could need. Outdoor bathtub was amazing. The only downside was that while there were separate rooms, you had to go through some rooms to get to the others, so privacy wasn't the best if you had a lot of couples. Would be an amazing place to stay for a group of friends though and I'm sure the smaller rooms would be amazing for a couple. I'm already thinking up an excuse to take a group of friends back to stay. Staff were friendly and helpful and even let us have a late check out. Would highly recommend this to anyone.

Room Tip: Better for a group of friends than couples due to the bed/room setup. Beds are extremely comfortable and the kitchen was in top notch condition. Lots of room to spread out in and amazing view from the lounge. Amazing outdoor areas for dining at as well.

We recently stayed at Marlin House and were lucky enough to have the spa suite.
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel most welcome and were treated as long lost friends by the hosts.
Ray could not do enough to make us feel welcome and be totally relaxed.
The service and extra care given was of the highest standard. And the breakfast was a treat beyond what we expected.
All in all was one of the best stays we have had in the Bay of Islands and will return again soon.

My partner and I stayed at Marlin House B&B for 4 nights over summer this year. We flew in to Auckland from Wellington and we drove for 3 hours, we were tired from the trip and we were really keen to get away from our busy lives in Wellington. When we arrived at Marlin House, we were greeted by this beautiful 3-storied wooden villa with lush plantation either side of the driveway. Helen, one of the owners was very lovely and welcoming. She showed us our Spa Suite room which turned out to be the perfect spot to unwind for 4 days. Clean, nicely made bed and a massive spa bath! We loved the decor and it felt very homely. Thank you for the little treats of homemade cookies, wine and chocos! We included breakfast with our room rate and we were not disappointed. They hosted breakfast at the Captain's Cabin and it defines the concept of breakfast with a view. We were seated outside, overlooking the bay and we were served with a feast! From the freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly grounded coffee and a selection of fresh meats, cheese, croissant, fresh fruits... we were very spoilt. We really loved our stay at Marlin House and we recommend it to couples, families, solos alike. The owners Ray, Helen were very hospitable. Overall an amazing, unforgettable stay, see you next summer!
