Set on a stunning site overlooking the Bay of Islands, Waitangi is an absolute must-see for all visitors to the North, international and New Zealanders alike. Fabulous evening, commentary glass of wine, explanation of hangi cooking and lifting of the food to start with. Welcome procedure walking up through the bush with the challenge, conch shell call and koauau sounds mixed with birds and bush was beautiful experience. I have not experienced that approach before and loved it. Then concert in the meeting house followed by return to restaurant and the excellent and well presented food from the hangi. A value for money experience highly recommended.

As we came in via a cruise ship they offered a 20% discount on the entry fee. The entry fee included a guided tour with an extremely knowledgeable guide, a fantastic cultural performance and the chance to wander through the very new, interactive museum and the beautiful forest walks. Well worth going.

The museum is the real highlight here. So informative and presented in a variety of accessible ways. We could have spent a day just in the museum.

The Hangi was fabulous. The walk through the bush with challenges from the Maori chiefs was very exciting with Maori calls all around. The concert was the highlight for me. The tribute to the 25th Maori Battalion was very emotional and their performance was excellent. Well done Waitangi and their staff for an excellent evening. Thoroughly recommend this experience to all.

Our tour guide Kaz was hilarious, with a dry sense of humour. If you're doing the tour, keep in mind that you won't be taken inside the House of Assembly during the tour, so if you're keen to go inside, don't do the tour around midday. My group's tour ended just as the performance group locked the House for their preparation, and I had to leave for my boat, so didn't get the chance to go in. Noooo. At least there are photos of the inside of the House online.

Thank Stef T
