“Paradise for a wedding”
Reviewed 27 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Wow wow wow..... we held our wedding here and bought four Australian friends with us to stay... this place is paradise on earth. Aside from the afternoon of our wedding it didn't stop raining. However this didnt detract from the beauty of the view of the lake and warmth and comfort of this magnificent home. Everything you could possibly require is in this home.
The two fire places heat the home beautifully and add to the coziness of a wet cold spring day.
The home is extremely clean and all bathrooms had luxury toiletries and towels. The beds were all incredibly comfortable and had top quality linen. its far enough away from downtown Rotorua to enjoy the tranquility but a short 25 minute drive brings you into town for all your requirements.
Tony and Jude are extremely helpful to deal with from the booking process right down to the day we arrived. I can not speak highly enough about this home. We will be back.

“Idyllic no need to go anywhere once you are there.”
Reviewed 24 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We all loved this house from the moment we opened the door but the view was even more beautiful. It was ideal for 3 couples with 2 bedrooms with separate bathrooms and a 3rd bedroom upstairs. The kitchen had everything you would need and then some, and in fact it had everything you would ever need. So beautiful and relaxing it was hard to leave! A couple of points are the stairs to the top bedroom and the proximity to the lake might be a worry to parents of young children. A beautiful place and we are pleased we found it.

“No praise too high for this rental!”

We -- two couples -- stayed for 3 nights in September. The house is pristine and comfortable and the views are gorgeous The jetted hot tub on the deck was a delight to use every evening. While we had very nice lodgings in other locations on our trip, none compared with the amenities in this house or the hospitality of Jude and Tony. (One night Tony gave us a smoked fish he had caught that day for our dinner.) They also provided lots of food for breakfast--hot and cold. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you might need--utensils, condiments, food wrap, etc.-- unlike other places where we stayed, some of which lacked even basic items such as paper towels. We recommend this place highly.
Another advantage is that it is a short drive from the center of town--away from the sulphuric smell!

“great location, welcoming house with all mod cons”

This is a lovely property, clean neat with all mod cons. Everything for an extended family stay. We had 3 adults and 2 teenagers and there was ample room for everyone. My only comment for improvement would be a CD player for when the kids turn off the TV to hear some lovely relaxing music in this setting would be lovely.

Rainbow Trout Lodge, located right on the lake front, is a wonderful place to get away from it all. All three bedrooms, the lounge and the dining room have magnificient views of the lake. Owners, Jude and Tony, have thought of your every need. There were wine, cheese and crackers on arrival, as well as a roaring fire. For breakfast, there were different kinds of muesli/granola, a variety pack of small boxes of cereals, yogurt, milk and eggs. I loved the fact that there are plenty of nice big mugs and a huge selection of teas and hot chocolate. There is also a fancy coffee machine. The kitchen has quality appliances, cooking pots and utensils. We enjoyed a delicious three-course meal cooked by Tony. He also took us out fishing and then smoked the trout caught by my daughter. We went to the Waitangi Soda Springs using the concession card provided to us by the owners. We also went on a couple of hikes. Rainbow Trout Lodge is about 25 minutes from the center of Rotorua, but we felt no need to venture out. We had everything at our doorstep. We will definitely be going back!
