Description: Where to look first, outwards, upwards or at the live chef displays... Set high on the side of Mount Ngongotaha, Stratosfare is the newest hot spot on Rotorua's burgeoning foodie scene. Luxurious Italian marble, granite, schist stonework and timber set the scene for a memorable experience where David Trubridge light frames your dinner setting for an evening that is sure to delight all your senses. Skilled chefs at their stations craft your cuisine, while cocktail connoisseurs mix and shake at the bar - and the sights don't stop - there's also an incredible 180 degree panorama of Lake Rotorua and the city to soak in amongst the atmosphere. Did we mention the menu? A range of cuisine is presented to tantalize your taste buds, from the tidal mussel tank, ensuring the freshest mussels you can find, to the flame rotisserie, aged prime cuts, Art of the Grill, seasonal salads and the freshly cooked-to-order crepes, we are sure you will leave wanting to come back again and again. Featuring a stunning array of freshly prepared buffet and cooked-to-order dishes highlighting locally sourced seafood, meat and produce, Stratosfare will take you on a gastronomic journey. Our commitment to quality begins long before our produce arrives at our pinnacle site. We work in partnership with local NZ farmers and growers who share our commitment to food excellence, from the pasture to the plate. Our award-winning Wagyu Angus cross fillet steak is just one example. Our prime beef comes from 16,000 hectares of coastal farms near Gisborne. The people of Mangatu Farms have been working their ancestral lands for more than 200 years. They can tell us exactly where the beef has come from, how it was reared and what it was fed. It's the little details like these that set our dining experience apart. We think you will be able to taste the difference too. Last dinner booking 8.30Pm.

A birthday celebration for my father's 80th birthday. We enjoyed our lovely dinner last night, after having spent a week or so deciding where to go for our special dinner... we are locals, so know most of the good restaurants. The food was fantastic, fresh, innovative and tasty. It was very busy and a bit noisy but the buffet was always refreshed and looking top-notch. Value for money, as if you added up a six course meal somewhere else it would easily come to $72. The service we had from Margel, our waitress was very attentive and friendly, plates cleared immediately and nothing was too much trouble. After she inquired about a special occasion she brought out a large piece of birthday cake with a candle and a card signed by the staff, a lovely touch much appreciated! The ride up in the gondola makes the night feel special, and as we went at 5.45pm, we appreciated the view in the light and then watched the city turn into a sea of lights. On the way back down in the gondola we were treated to an enormous golden moon rising over the horizon. Very cool! A quality evening.

Enjoyed the views for a romantic dinner. Buffet had a huge variety but a lot of the proteins were over cooked. Serving utensils needed to be kept clean. Desert was amazing, try the creme brûlée.

My husband and I have eaten here before, a year ago and at that time we were very impressed.. We went again last night, the 30th March to celebrate our wedding anniversary.. We were both less than impressed.. The food was average. The steak was basically raw, and was far too chewy.. We tried 2 different pieces each, and none were cooked properly. The chicken was dry. The beef strips were tough, but the sauce was nice. The restaurant has also started charging people an extra $15 dollars just to sit next to the window, what the hell is up with that, it's expensive enough already. Everything was just average.. Even the dress code has lapsed.. People wearing t-shirts and shorts and jandals.. What's happened to this place??

a must do if your looking for a good night out. Stratosfare offers amazing views of Rotorua and on a clear night you can see fore miles. We upgraded our package which included a window seat and a cocktail, well worth the extra money as all other seats have limited views outside. A wide range of wood is available and steak is cooked to order in front of you. we will be going again the next time we are in NZ.
