St James Bed & Breakfast

Couldn't say enough nice things about this beautiful little place. Spent a night here prior to flying out to Australia. This was a perfect location for staying close to the airport. The grounds are beautiful and you have this sense of calm and peace while there. I wish they would have been a little bit closer to downtown, but I will take the peace and calm over the bustle of the city anyday. I highly recommend staying here when in town. Margaret was the best B&B host I have ever had. The room was spotless, and the bathroom was a perfect retreat. And her breakfast was so yummy! It was a perfect end to 4 weeks in New Zealand!

Room Tip: Any room is great!

Stayed one night after renting a campervan and returning it to Christchurch before changing to a car to head up to North Island. We were able to drop our luggage off at B &B and return van then walk back the short distance to the B&B.
Margaret is a very welcoming host who provided useful information on where to get dinner. We stayed in the Magnolia room which had lovely views over the beautiful garden and was very well appointed. Unfortunately the Alpacas were not around as they were away getting clipped.
The B&B is a short walk from the bus stop where regular buses go into the city centre if you do not have a car. We walked part of the way in for dinner then caught the bus back.
In the morning Margaret provided a very substantial breakfast with plenty of good food to chose from.

I've been there just for one night with my family. But it was a good and quiet night. Very clean, comfortable place and easy to get to the airport. Margaret greeted us personally, introduced us to the room very kindly and carefully. I do recommend that bed and breakfast in Christchurch.

We flew into Christchurch late in the day and were more than pleased with the accommmodations at the St. James B&B. Margaret was gone, but the key to the stables was there for us, and we settled in easily. The unit was attractively decorated and impeccably clean. Margaret had provided a lovely breakfast pie, bread for toasting, jams, fruit, ramen noodles, bars, orange juice and milk, cereals and coffee. The unit was a charming apartment only a short walk away from the sweet Alpacas. I couldn't recommend this B&B more highly, and it's only a kilometer away from the airport, easy walking distance. How I wish we could have gotten a room there for our return flight, but it was not to be.

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of days and absolutely loved it. We tried to change or plans to stay longer. The owner is a lovely lady who knows how to make you feel welcomed. The location is very relaxing even though the airport is very close. A lot of thought was put into the design of making guest feel comfortable. The decor is warm and cozy. The bathroom has a shower/tub room and a separate toilet or water closet. There is also a cottage that is completely self contained. She has the sweetest pets which only add to the warmth of the location. Beautiful garden. Great place for a wedding or a small family reunion. We look forward to returning someday.

Room Tip: All the rooms seemed nice. Ours had a balcony.
