We were on a tour with Grand Pacific Tours so the accommodation was provided. A well laid out English Villa style motel. Rooms are comfortable with all that is needed for your overnight stay and there is no problem with sleeping because most of the rooms are a distance from the traffic. The meals were well presented and very enjoyable.

Getting to the CBD is around a 20 min walk or by the bus for around $4-00.

Room Tip: For a good sleep try rooms further away from streets.

This hotel is convenient for the centre of Christchurch - about a fifteen minute walk. There is a bus as an alternative which is $4 each way. It is built in a period style akin to Elizabethan and goes quite a way back from the road. Our room was clean and spacious with settee, TV, tea / coffee making equipment, fridge and very large bed. The ensuite was good with a very powerful shower. There is a small outdoor swimming pool when the weather suits. A pleasant welcome was received and everything explained. The restaurant and bar are near the entrance and the food was very good and well priced. Some noise from other rooms can be expected but is not too intrusive.

After a long day of travel by ferry and coach we arrived at this Tudor style hotel. Grabbed our room key and found our higher level first floor rooms. This hotel only has 2 levels, ground and first floor. We had the master bedroom with a large queen bed in it. The second bedroom had a large queen bed and a single bed. A large lounge area with a 2 seater couch and 2 single couch seats. A 4 seater round table and a sink. Rather than being dated it is period furnishings, well maintained and clean, no mould smell in room 835.
Dinner was ready for us buffet style. Beef ribs melt in the mouth, salmon, chicken Maryland. Roast potato, steamed vegetables & salad with desert. A great meal.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel

We stayed at this place whilst on a coach tour of the South Island with Grand Pacific tours. The hotel is 20 mins walking distance to town. Turn right as you come out of the hotel to go to town, if you turn left and walk for 10-15 mins you will come across a shopping mall, post office, supermarket, bank, resturants, pub, McDonald's and a Chinese fish and chip shop. This chip shop has the best and the cheapest blue cod and chips. You can sit in or take out.
The food in the hotel restaurant was good but it was part of our tour group dinners. The rooms were large but on our first visit the plumbing makes a lot of noise when the guest next door was running his bath at 1.00 am. The hotel should have a sign in all rooms to be quiet hours between 10.30pm and 6.00am to avoid this for future guests. Very pleasant stay otherwise. Staff all very pleasant and helpful.

Dear 1globetrotter16,

Thank you for your recent stay at the Heartland Cotswold Hotel and for taking the time to review your experience.
I am delighted that as a valued guest of Grand Pacific tours and also the Heartland Cotswold Hotel you found the hotel ideally located with walking distance to shops, supermarkets, banks etc. Unfortunately we cannot control a guests movements within their room but I empathise for the 1am wake up.
Our staff will be thankfull for your comments on their service and attention also.
We look forward to welcoming you back to NZ on another Grand Pacific Tour sometime in the future.

Kind regards,
Anthony Moore

The room was spacious clean and the bed was good. Please note the bathroom was ok but not very sophisticated. There is NO air-conditioning just heaters. The breakfast and dinner was tasty. This is a good economic choice.

Dear LevinsonGedera,

Thank you for your recent stay at the Heartland Cotswold Hotel and for taking the time to review your experience.
I am glad that you found the room spacious and clean with the bed comfortable as this certainly makes for a pleasant stay. Yes unfortunately the hotel has no air-conditioning as this is quite difficult to achieve in a Tudor style hotel as modern fan exhaust units would seriously impact the look of the hotel.
As you mention we have good German made heaters in our rooms which provide ample heat with all windows in the guest rooms opening to give fresh air through on a warm day. We also have fans at reception for the very humid days.

Kind regards,
Anthoyn Moore
