Merivale Manor was our “home away from home” for two nights while we visited Christchurch. It is conveniently located within walking distance of a mall with nice grocery store. There are also several restaurants within walking distance. The rooms are beautifully decorated, clean, and well equipped! A bonus for us was the in-room continental breakfast! (Thank you!!) Wayne, Karen, and their staff provide a warm and welcoming environment for their guests.

It's all been said in previous reviews but that doesn't mean to say you can't repeat it for no other reason that the owners go out their way to help, to provide information and with a genuine intention to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Would definitely recommend the main house because from the outside the other rooms looked a bit on the small side.

Merrivale itself is a nice suburban neighbourhood within easy walking distance of Christchurch and with several good restaurants in the close vicinity

Room Tip: Stick to the main house

There are studio rooms and the main manor house, which has suites and large studios. We had the Webb Suite which was gorgeous. Best king-size bed in the world. The library and front verandah are lovely spots for a cuppa or glass of wine. Hosts Wayne and Karen are delightful.

Exceptional facility! Perfectly located in an upscale subburb of the city, with great restaurants and downtown within walking distance. Wayne is a gracious and knowledgable host. All his recommendations were spot-on, from dinner to driving routes, to points of interest. We stayed in the Webb Suite and it was spectacular! If you stay on the second floor of the main house don't miss the Port in the hall. I never saw it until we were checking out - a missed opportunity to enjoy it on the 2nd floor porch!

Room Tip: Stay in the main house.

Wayne and Karen are such friendly hosts that you immediately feel at home. The motels are good, well equipped and you have bread, cereals and condiments as standard so you can make your own breakfast. Merivale is a lovely suburb of Christchurch with good quality restaurants within walking distance. It is a longer walk to Hagley Park and the Botanic gardens. There is a bus stop right outside the drive for easy travel into Christchurch. Wayne will help you with your plans and also with recommendations for restaurants. A brilliant place to stay.
