Everyone should visit the Toitu Otago Settlers Museum, both locals & visitors, they have done a fantastic job with the displays & history of Otago. Lots of different things to interest all members of the family & some cool interactive stuff. Finish the visit off with a lovely lunch at the cafe. Allow at least a couple of hours.

My family visited over Easter weekend and expected a small, simple museum but were blown away by the detail and amount of displays in this place.
From Maori settlement to European colonization right up to plans for the future of dunedin this place has everything covered.
A must see is the section on modern history with displays of early computers and tech. On particular I liked seeing the Amiga 500 and Commodore 64 haha

Great museum in a stunning building! Loved the different exhibits, although it took more time than expected to really enjoy everything, so do take a morning or so!
