Gorgeous food to share with a group of friends. A great place to experience some fun and laughter with your nearest and dearest. Order a few tasty treats to share, the best way to experience Madam Woo

Both waitresses were so rude, unwelcoming and not accomodating at all, when enquiring if they had any tables free they told us they had nothing at all. When we asked if that meant all night, she rolled her eyes and checked her bookings, telling us she had a table in an hour or so. We asked about take away to which the answer was yes but it would take half an hour (which was fine with us) we asked if we could have a drink at the bar while we waited which the answer was no. Everything was too hard and every question had a negative answer. So we walked out.

We’ve been to Madam Woo in Dunedin several times since it opened. It started off great, but progressively got worse. Both food and service has degraded. Last time (on 21st March 2018) the fish curry my wife ordered tasted completely different - it had no depth of flavour and no heat. The fish in it was battered (like it had come from the freezer).

When Madam Woo first came to Dunedin, the rendang curry came with a side dish of yummy bits and pieces, like crispy anchovies, a hot sauce, deep fried eggs, cucumber. Later on, the side dish was no longer included, but instead was offered separately for $12. On our most recent visit, the side dish wasn’t even on the menu! For me, the rendang is no longer worth it without that side dish.

So I ordered the chicken curry. It was pretty bland, and the chicken was over cooked.

The roti bread was chewy - unlike how it used to be.

I feel like the owners of Madam Woo (including Josh Emett) really need to sort things out with this franchise. My colleague reported that they received raw chicken on one occasion!

We live in Dunedin and feel that there is a real lack of decent restaurants. It feels like Madam Woo Dunedin has fallen into the mediocrity that is all too common in Dunedin.

We were visiting Dunedin and had not made a reservation but the helpful staff told us to come back a bit later and had a table for the four of us. The prawn and coriander dumplings are amazing. I had the beef rendang as as a main and it melts in the mouth with delicious flavours. The others had pork belly and raved.

It was reasonably priced for such quality food. The staff could not be friendlier or more attentive.

I highly recommend this restaurant.

Book well in advance to nab a table!

Food options and service are fantastic. Very tasty.

Enjoyed every item we chose. Great for sharing, but don't have to!
We got 5 entrées to share among 4, but ordered 1 main each (no sharing those!).

Reasonably priced.

Highly recommend. But remember to book!
