In the area so had to do a MS cruise. Chose CM as wanted a smaller boat size. Glad I did. Our sailing wasn’t full so you could move round to get different vantage points. The live commentary wasn’t too intrusive, although a little difficult to hear if you were outside. The 3 crew members including captain were usual kiwi friendly. My only criticism, which wasn’t down to CM was the parking, and lack of park and ride bus. Finding no available parking spaces I parked in the designated P&R But no bus appeared, so we ended walking in. It wasn’t far but wasted time waiting for the none existent transport. Ditto return journey, the bus only took you half way. My advise is arrive with plenty of time as you may have to walk into the harbor.

Thank you for your review but more importantly for you good advise for other visitors, parking can be a issue as there is only a limited amount of room at Milford and as such limited car-parks. I agree that arriving early is the key.

On Celebrity, we cruised through Dusky Sound, Doubtful Sound, and Milford Sound. Without a doubt, Milford was the most spectacular. The mountains surging up on the sides were far steeper than those in the other two sounds, so the effect was more dramatic. The waterfalls--and there were several--were beautiful and the snow capped mountain peak framed by other mountains at the far end of Milford was definitely the most majestic. If you only cruise one sound in Fiordland, make sure it is Milford.

The owners Lisa and Hamish were super helpful with our booking questions and providing us with multiple options. We wanted to find a way to do the cruise in Milford Sound as well as the extremely gorgeous bus ride from Queenstown to Milford. But we wanted a faster way back since we were traveling with two kids. Despite the drastic changes in weather they accommodated us the whole time with regular updates on our options.
The bus ride was incredible and our driver Eric was a wealth of knowledge. He is a professional driver and an experienced outdoorsman who lives and plays in the region so he knew everything you couldn’t even imagine. It was a magical ride through blustery winds and raging rivers with waterfalls cascading all around us.
Fortunately the weather subsided just as we arrived to the docks and Captain Craig took us all out for a stunning boat ride through Milford Sound with picturesque stops and multiple sightings of wildlife including the dolphins jumping in the distance. His crew Marina and Nick were gracious and also eager to share their knowledge of the region. We couldn’t ask for anything more, it was a once in a lifetime experience in one of the most remote corners of the world. Thank you Cruise Milford.
