Very popular and very tiny so it pays to book in advance. We didn’t but managed to get the last of two outside tables with a glorious view of cow lane, lol. There were heaters going so it wasn’t that cold and comfortable enough. It was kinda tappa like so I left very satisfied by the delicious food but still a little hungry. It was the only Japanese I’ve been to that didn’t have Asashi beer but had a just as nice other beer so no loss. Very polite and friendly staff so would go back but order more food next time.

Ate here at the recommendation of our hotel hosts - and glad we did!

Freshly prepared food in an intimate setting that offers a view of the kitchen. Offerings are available for both small and larger plates. Service was punctual and pleasant.

Felt as though we had good value for the evening! Wanted to go back and try some additional offerings, but ran out of time in the area

Tanoshi is a great venue for a quick lunch. We had the tonkotsu bento and the tan tan men noodles. Both were delicious, particularly the noodles which came with a spicy sesame broth and minced pork. The bento came with an odd tasting sauce but this was served so easy to avoid. Service was very friendly and accommodating.

Very good quality food, good range of dishes. Nice friendly staff. Good value for the quality - a couple of larger dishes, three small ones, a couple of drinks each and we still got change from $100.
The venue is small, but they do take reservations.
We were in Queenstown 5 days, and had our dinner there twice.
