It's important to book ahead in this part of NZ at this time of year, because as you drive through practically every hotel/motel displays a 'No Vacancy' sign. Particularly in Te Anau, which is tourist central.
This place is close to the lake and all the attractions, easy walk to most. Also near supermarkets and galleries. Reasonably sized rooms (separate bedroom is better than many places), well-equipped kitchenette, comfortable lounge room, bathroom smaller than other places, but a separate toilet was a good feature. Restricted wi-fi was annoying. Laundry facilities were good. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

We rented a small one bedroom apartment for two nights. The owners gave us a warm welcome and assisted us in booking a trip to Milford Sound.
The apartment was clean and comfortable if a little dated in style. Kitchen was well equipped. Lounge area was comfortable with seating and tv. Plenty of hot water for showers. Bedroom had one double and a single bed. Wi-fi worked well. Parking for one car directly outside unit. Information pack in 7nit was very informative.

The rooms were large and clean! Close to the Lake front and an easy 3 minute walk down to the boat for the Glow Worms. The staff were super friendly and had no problems with check in and check out. Would recommend to all passing through or staying a few days!

Great accommodation close to the centre of town, clean modern rooms with some views over the lake and mountains. Some rooms are on the second floor so check before you book as to what is available. Friendly staff can help with your bookings.

We stayed for 5 nights in early February as a base for walking sections of the 3 "Great Walks" (Milford, Routeburn and Kepler tracks) and had a very enjoyable time.
The accommodation is dated or "retro" if you like (fixtures & fittings are of 1970s/1980s vintage although with no significant wear & tear and in perfect working order) but spacious, very clean and with comfortable furniture.
Whilst we were there the owners apologised in advance for the intermittent WiFi advising us that the problems were being attended to. However, even though it remained frustratingly slow after 5 nights it was not a deal breaker for us.
For some reason tables are not provided on ground floor unit patios such as ours although they are on first floor balconies where guests also enjoy lake views. Rather bizarrely, neither of the 2 mirrors ( bedroom and bathroom) in our unit had a power point near enough to allow guests to use a hairdryer in front of them.
The motel position is excellent, 2 minutes walk to the lakeside and 5 minutes walk across a park to the commercial area of the town with its numerous restaurants.
A laundry is available for guest use pm with a large free airer with pegs on the lawn adjacent to a sizeable children's play area.
We would probably stay here again if we were to return to Te Anau.
