We were just passing through Newcastle and had a 1 night stay, we were looking for a place within walking distance from our hotel. The Burwood was 7 minutes away and they promised awesome steak. As we love steak we thought we would try it and I have to say we were not disappointed!!

The drinks - they have a good range of beers and my very fussy partner was able to find something to his likening. They also had a lovely Riesling for me.

The food- well we had to try the steak. It was amazing! I don't know what else to say. Just try it.

The service- was fantastic. They all knew about the food and were able to answer all of our questions.

This is an awesome place, a hidden gem. We will defiantly be back if we are in Newie again.
Loved it!!!!

My husband and I ordered to share 'Sweet Corn, Coriander & Lime Bruschetta' and 'Salt & Pepper Squid'. The bruschetta lacked coriander and needed maybe a touch of chilli. All we could taste was garlic, unfortunately. We both ordered Scotch Fillet Steak medium rare served with green beans and hand cut chips. The steaks were cooked to our liking, beans delicious but the thick chips tasted peculiar as though they had been precooked much earlier then cooked again when ordered.

I arrived with my 3 month old in a pram to meet a group of friends for Xmas dinner. On arrival the waitress abruptly asked if I had a reservation. She then stopped me from going any further to my friend's table and went on to say that I should have told them we'd have a pram when booking and that there was no room for me and my pram. (Note: it's by no means a jammed restaurant) The waitress basically made me feel like I shouldn't be there with my baby. Let's remember this is a pub not a fancy restaurant. I ended leaving and packing the pram back in to my car and just carrying my baby. The waitress was rude and nasty. I never cry and she made me cry because she made me feel like crap. I was looking forward to a nice catch up with friends and she ruined my night.
