I am a big fan of the Rydges Hotels, and choose Rydges whenever possible. However, the Newcaste Rydges was very disappointing. The main problem was the staff seemed to not be trained in the Rydges manner, and if anything, seemed to resent the fact that Rydges now owned this Hotel. As a priority rewards member, certain discounts apply on Food and Beverage. It was impossible to organise a drink at the bar on arrival, with the staff not wanting to honour the priority rewards card. I did think that the room was certainly not up the Rydges standard, particularly when you consider that this was the most I have paid for a room at a Rydges.
I stayed the next night at the Port Maquarie Rydges (Sails) and it was faultless.

We stayed here previously some time ago with no real issues. My son and his partner were also staying this time so I booked 2 rooms.
There was a problem with his booking as they had somehow changed my name?? Anyway we sorted that.
There was also an issue retrieving our car from valet. They had allocated it to another room??
Both TV's didn't work. We asked for them to be fixed, but no result....
Upon checkout they did waive our valet parking fees, which was nice and the young lady serving us was very nice.
It's a great location but I will try somewhere else next time.

Wow such a lovely stay, all of the staff so friendly and helpful. Price was ever so great. Out room was surprisingly upgraded and such a comfy bed.
Have stayed here before and will definitely be staying here again.

Had dinner with friends staying at the hotel. The four main meals arrived almost at the same time but were not placed in the correct position as ordered. The meals tasted nice but for a Steak and Chips was a bit overpriced at $50.
After the mains we ordered a Cheese Platter and one coffee. After 30 minutes we had to remind them about the order which had been forgotten. 15 minutes later we had to remind them about the coffee which had also been forgotten. At this stage there were only 6 people in the restaurant so there was no excuse for forgetting the orders.

Staff were fabulous on Reception and Concierge all very welcoming and efficient on arrival. Room was beautiful and clean in a nice quite location. All requests were actioned immediately insuring my stay was seamless. Wish i had more time to experience the outlets however maybe next time.
Thank you also goes to Amelia and Steffi from in house Reservations for insuring my cousin's Group Accommodation for her guests went without a hiccup, thanks ladies top effort as always
