We stayed for a night there. It was a simple inn. The room that we booked for 4 was just nice for 4 people. They have luggage lift so no worries if you have big luggage. A cafe is just next door so it's very convinient if you need to have breakfast and leave early in the morning.

DO NOT stay at the Batman Fawker Inn unless you want to go clubbing until 2am. On their website there is a small note referring to the club open some days but it is not extremely misleading - there is not “some” club noise - our entire room was shaking for hours. It was impossible to sleep or do anything else. This is not reasonable or appropriate for accommodation, especially somewhere that advertises as a historical inn. I would never stay here again and do not recommend it for anyone.

Batman Faulkner hotel Launceston accommodation 24 – 29/5/18
First choice in Launceston and it was a good one!
In this age of booking accommodation electronically, we searched on criteria such as “close to the City centre” and “close to the transit centre (Intercity Bus depot – there are no passenger trains in Tasmania). Batman Faulkner came up first, so we booked. Spot on! It satisfied all we needed: comfortable twin room, air conditioning, own bathroom, refrigerator, free Wi-Fi (a MUST!), everything one would expect from a 3 star hotel.
The hotel has a claim to fame too: in this hotel, a meeting was held to plan the new city of Melbourne! Pictures and sculpture to this effect is in the foyer.
Previous to its current name, it must have been the Cornwall hotel, as that name is emblazoned on the hotel façade.
The hotel does not provide meals; there is a large dining room, but it is organised more like a backpacker dining room. Refrigerators are provided to store your own food, stoves and ovens to cook and there is even a corner (mantelpiece) of things travellers have left behind for free to incoming travellers. How nice! You don’t need to worry about meals though; there is a plethora of restaurants within easy walking distance.
One comment though; there is a disco next door (Saturday only as far as we were able to find out) and the Doof Doof Doof of the subwoofer kept us awake till at least 1 am, followed by noisy revellers returning to their rooms and again as they got up at 5 am to go home. Oh well, it was only one night!
The hotel has several distinct wings; the original rooms facing the church across the road are quite palatial and I sneaked into one while the room service was making up the room. NICE! We stayed in a more recent add-on wing which, as described earlier, was quite adequate. Good spot! We will stay here again!

Room tip: Rooms facing Cameron St. are the quietest. There is a Saturday evening disco next door.

The hostel itself is a pleasant place to stay with a very good location. The beds aren’t overly comfortable, could feel the internal mattress springs. The kitchen and common room are good. The biggest issue with this accommodation is the noise from the nightclub. Was told about the nightclub at checkin, told music strictly stops at 12-1am. Not the case. Goes well into the early morning. Spend extra and stay somewhere more comfortable and quiet!

The accommodation was very good, the room was a bit dated but was very functional, my fiancée and I stayed here for a night before catching a plane the next day. Staff were very friendly and easy to talk to. Great location and close to the town, perfect if you’re on a budget.
