We were travelling with family (2A2C) stayed at Windmill Friday evening. Excellent double room suit with a balcony kitchenette. Rooms were spacious and quiet. Breakfast was excellent...variety of cold fruits and cereals, toast and homemade jams. Steve the host was excellent giving good advice on where to go, where to eat. A bit of a climb up the hill but very close to town. Highly recommend.

The house was built in 18xx, so do not expect a modern renovation. With good direction of our three bed room and a radiator, we felt warm in the room. However, it's a bit inconvenient and hard to keep the surrounding area clean and dry when the sink was built outside of the restroom.

The buffet breakfast was very good as commented by the other guests. However, we saw that the manager/owner put the jam left by a guest back to the jam jar. I am not sure how he determined whether it's hygienic, so I just disclosed this for the reader's reference. On the other hand, I think the guests should always take the amount they could consume to eliminate the wastage.

We're Queenslanders staying for a few days and this BnB is easy to find, comfortable and the breakfast is wonderful. All the bread, jams, muffins are home made and there are 4 or 5 different sorts of fruit the hosts have preserved. The only (small) downside is they're on the top of a hill so walking into Launceston is easy, but the walk back is challenging .... The hosts are very knowledgeable about the district and nothing was too much trouble

Windmill Hill Lodge came highly recommended and lived up to the hype. The house is old but charming and Steve has the charm and manner (maybe also the gift of the gab - Blarney?) needed to be a great host. It shows that what is important are the people! The breakfast offered will not be seen anywhere else - memorable. WML is a great base to explore the city although a car is really needed.

Great place to stay, large room close to the city and a superb continental breakfast that had home made breads and pancakes ,homemade jams and honey plus a selections of cereals and fruit and hot porridge . The owner was pleasant and helpful and I would certainly use his lodge again
