Really enjoyed this home from home. Margaret is lovely. By the end of our very enjoyable stay, we felt like we were saying goodby to a good friend.
We were very well looked after, from the yummy welcome banana cake to the lovely wood burner on a chilly evening, to the scrumptious breakfast with home made toasted bread.
We will definitely recommend.

We spend a wonderful night at the BB. Our hosts where great, we had a very confortable and quiet room. Enjoyed also the guests lounge, with home made biscuits and fire in the chimney. Delicious home made breakfast. Thank you !

Wonderful in all matters! Warm welcome, the hospitality, the room, the beds, the breakfast, the surrondings. A perfect B&B stay if you are in the neithborhood of Geraldine. We for sure will recommend this to travellers in NZ. And Margreth, you just love her and she loves her guests.

Usually I'm don't use surperlastives to describe anything but can't think how else I could sum up the excellence of Bay-View Homestay and our host Margaret (85 years old). She provided a lovely home away from home, comfy ensure bedroom with use of a fully equipped kitchen and a sitting room with TV, Internet, videos, etc etc etc - everything one could desire. Her beautiful garden, full of flowers, vegetables and herbs and fruit trees was such a pleasure to see and to wander about checking out the numerous birds who live there (including about 12 chickens who provide the eggs for breakfast, which brings me to breakfast! The best we've had in our many sampling of hotel or B&B breakfasts. Delicious home made Granola, bread & preserves, accompanied by eggs (from afore mentioned chickens) and amazingly tasty lean bacon (not home produced as far as we know!). In addition to all of these comforts we had the most incredible host to chat to as we tucked in to this amazing feast. Margaret is a phenomenal host and clearly loves what she does (and has been doing since about 1968).

Room Tip: Ensuite is best

Recently my wife and I spent 2 very relaxing nights at Bayview. We have extensively used B&B's in Australia, U.K. And Ireland. Bayview was our first experience in NZ.
We arrived inKiakoura without a booking so used the information centre for assistance. They gave us several within our price range, Bayview being one of them
Ideally, we wanted something close to the shops and restaurants, but as we had a car, we took the recommendation for Bayview.

If you are wanting to walk, then maybe Bayview will not suit, but hey, it's a 2 minute drive to the shops etc.

The view from the breakfast room and front decking ranks with anything that we have scene. We were lucky, recent snow on the nearby mountains and a clear blue sky over the bay, Magnificent!

The welcome from Margaret, known to all and sundry as Mar, was warm and friendly. We chose a room with an ensuite. Both were clean and comfortable. The adjacent lounge for guests was very comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities.

Her garden is something that I can only dream of. She is almost self sufficient in fruit and vegetables and with her own hens, likewise for the best eggs that you could imagine.

If you like roses etc, including an almost black iris, then go have a look and her garden.

Breakfast is traditional. Juice, fruit, cerals, toast, bacon and eggs, with tea or coffee of your choice. The bread, eggs, fruit and jams are all made by Mar - beautiful!

Mar has lived in the same house for over 80 years and knows Kiakoura as well as anybody. And don't be put off by her age, she is one remarkable lady! Her daughter Nicky helps out, but she was away when we stayed.

Bayview is a very good B&B and is moderately priced.

Mar is a most hospitable host and we were most pleased that we took the recommendation.

Room Tip: Room with an ensuite
