We stayed here on our way to Yulara (Northern Territory). The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was perfectly clean. It seems quiet new. We had shopped around and booked a special deal online so we felt that the place was very good value for money. The facilities are surrounded by a high fence and the only access is via an electrice gate guests swipe with their room card. Every room has it's own parking space. It's close to the water and the grassy water front - a lovely walk in the afternoon, close to shops and supermarket. We felt very safe, very secure and slept soundly - it's a very very quiet hotel. Port Augusta offers very little in terms of accommodation that would be able to compare with the Majestic Oasis. We will definitely stay again when we're travelling north.

Stayed at this property for one night and that was fine for us. The apartment was adequate but certainly not spacious or luxurious. We brought in a pizza and bottle of wine for dinner since there's not much selection in the area. Most of the evening, our air unit pulled in the wonderful (NOT) smoke from a couple grilling right outside our unit. Then, at around 11pm (we had already gone to sleep), our smoke alarm went off ... OMG ... it took us over 1/2 an hour to get it off. I went out front of our unit ... the front office gal came up to me and said "were you smoking in the unit?" Um, neither my husband nor I smoke ... she said the smoke alarms are really sensitive. I presume it picked up smoke from outside the unit. Whatever ...

Also, as other posters have said, the internet cost is ridiculous!

There's not much to Port Augusta and I would not go back.

I stayed at the Majestic Oasis Apartments in a deluxe suite for 3 nights. The room was clean and well appointed - all the apartments are in a very secure compound with high barbed wire fences and electronic gates. The apartments face a busy and noisy road, though a huge police presence tries to keep the louts under control.
Regretfully a "couldn't care less" attitude prevails with the staff who take their lead from the day management. When I asked for a longer internet cable (the supplied cable meant my laptop could only be placed on the floor!) reception said "we don't have one, take it or leave it, it's up to you." And get this, the internet was 55 cents a minute! Do the maths on that! (And extra per meg once over a minimal download limit!) Disappointing for such an expensive apartment.
They do not have a restaurant, so it's fend for yourself. You could find a cafe in town for breakfast, and a hotel (pub type meals) for your evening meal. No nice restaurants. Be careful at night. There is a convenient supermarket a few hundred meters away.
A problem with my account was comical, with the receptionist going back and forth between me and the day manager who was watching from the other side of a one way mirror, but wouldn't\t come out! No, don't stay here! Pity, it has potential with better management.

A "gated" property, which was surprising. The front staff were very personable and helpful and a good first impression. The rooms were small, but contained almost everything we needed including a washer and dryer (no oven, though). The location was right on the water, close to everything. The only real negative was the broadband was not wireless and was overpriced - $24/day, so we had coffee at MacDonald's and checked our emails there. The best part was the staff, both when we checked in and checked out. A good jumping off point to sightsee in the area.

Great clean beautiful rooms, massive shower, everything you need included. Awesome to have a washing machine, especially after traveling the nullabor!
I wouldn't recommend buying the breakfast (you buy the provisions and cook it yourself) you could buy breakfast 4 times over if you get the ingredients from the supermarket!
The staff were very friendly, although there is one that we were sure was a robot!
Would highly recommend this place to anyone and will definately stay there again!
