I stay at the Palazzo once a month for work. The rooms are immaculate and extremely modern. The owners are super lovely and are great to deal with. The rooms with the lazy boys are my favourite! They have a Great range of room configurations to suit every need. I even had the luxury of staying in the presidential suit one visit. Let me tell you..... I didn't want to leave. Very very flash. Whether it be for buisness or pleasure i highly reccommend palazzo Motor lodge!!

Have just had another great stay at Palazzo. Always welcoming and helpful hosts providing comfortable facilities with a pleasant atmosphere. Handy to the town centre, easy to access, parking aplenty. Plenty of info easily available on places to eat, places to go.

The Palazzo is a great place to stay.Jenny and Murray are very friendly and helpful : they'll book restaurants, loan you bikes etc. The rooms are stylish, comfortable, spotless and spacious. Although it's near good restaurants, it has everything you need in terms of self-catering for breakfast etc, including a dishwasher, so you don't have to waste time washing and drying up ! We stayed here the last time we holidayed in New Zealand and recommend its style and comfort to anyone who wants to be in Nelson or
the Abel Tasman area. Greetings and thanks from Ruth and Nigel !

Hi Ruth & Nigel, thank you for your wonderful comments. We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay with us. As you say we are close to many of Nelsons top restaurants but we are pleased to be able to cater for those who prefer to stay in and cater for themselves. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in New Zealand. Kind regards Jenny & Murray

Not a large hotel but a nice little place where the owners are involved in the daily operations. Our accommodations were clean, quiet and roomy. Two rooms, the bedroom with comfortable beds and a living room with kitchenette and 2 comfortable recliners. We also had a small patio / balcony. It within easy walking distance of downtown shops and restaurants. It was by far my favorite of all the places,I stayed while in NZ, and that included a 5* hotel. Owners are very friendly and always willing to help. They have bicycles available for use by guests and toys, books and games for children and adults. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing place this is it.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Palazzo, and we couldn't have been more pleased. Our only disappointment was that our stay was cut short due to Cyclone Gita which had closed the airport in Nelson, delaying our arrival by one day. The studio was so spacious, comfortable and clean. We enjoyed having a small balcony, and also the views out the back. The location, within a 5 minute walk of the center of town and all the restaurants, shops, and the cathedral, was perfect. I suppose it is possible one could find a street-side room not very quiet, but we were a few rooms off the street, and had no problem with street noise---especially after dark it got very quiet. Jenny and Murray were very amiable and helpful hosts, offering us dining suggestions, directions, and hospitality. This is closer to a family-run B and B than a regular "motel". (Breakfast is offered, though not included---the common practice in NZ, we found. We did not opt for the breakfast, but I believe we would next time--there were continental or hot choices, for a reasonable price.) We were charmingly offered a small jar of delicious fresh milk to take to our room for our coffee or tea.
This was our first time to Nelson (in fact to New Zealand), and we enjoyed the small city feel and quiet charms as a good first stop in the country. We found the Palazzo and its environs a perfect place to unwind, relax, and also walk, stretch our legs and see some sights. We took Jenny's suggestion for a great place for dinner, and were fortunate to land an early table sitting at a fantastic restaurant, just a few minutes walk. Don't miss the historic street directly behind the Palazzo, visiting the cathedral, or having a glass of wine or beer on the main mall. We look forward to our next trip to NZ, and would love to come back and see more of Nelson and its beautiful surroundings---and definitely stay at the Palazzo again!

Room Tip: You could ask for a room at the back if some street noise bothers you.
