Stayed 2 nights in a powered site on 9th and 10th July. Enjoyed dinner both nights: nice pub food and good value for money. Staff were all very hard working, friendly and helpful. Met some lovely people and all shared interesting travel stories and tips. Pub has a great atmosphere and bar manager has lots of travel knowledge and good sense of humour.

Kulgera is close to the centre of Australia and in the middle of desert country - so don't expect green grass. What you will get is a great stopover. Great pub food - we tried the hurgers and they were delicious. Best of all - the staff are fun and have a great sense of (dry) humour The camp ground is relaxed and amenities are clean. Our friends stayed in a cabin - again basic, clean and comfortable. Great hot shower!!

Room Tip: Just relax and enjoy to people and atmosphere.

On a road trip between Coober pedy and uluru or Alice springs, the Kulgera roadhouse is a character filled stopover well worth the time to stop, refill the tank, and wander into the pub or gift shop. I would have loved to spend a night here.

I have stopped at Kulgera on several occasions over the years how ever this was the first time during the Queens Birthday Long Weekend. Lots of traffic heading up to Alice and out to Finke for the Desert Race.

Fuel was reasonable however it was the price of food that we thought was very expensive. Staff admitted that all food prices had been put up because of the Long Weekend. In the past the food has always been good and reasonably priced. On this occasion the food was good but the prices were just expensive.

A bit disappointing given the fact that they were flat out both with fuel and food. I would question the need to hike the food prices up so much.

Room Tip: Be prepared to pay on Long Weekends

I stayed at Kulgera Roadhouse camp ground for 1 night on my way to Alice Springs. It is the first pub you come to on your way north or the last on your way south, so say their advertising and tee shirts.
It is a good clean camp ground, lots of powered sites for vans etc, huge big area for us unpowered people. Good clean amenities, well lit clean hot water showers, washing machines, fuel, a small food shop and some souvenirs. And of course the ubiquitous pub.
A pleasant option if you need a shower or are simply tired of all the heavily rubbished rest areas we have on our main roads
