Came here for our sons 18th birthday (his choice). Wasnt expecting much as we had dined here a couple of times when they first opened and was underwhelmed.
Unfortunately we came on quiz night so were seated upstairs which has very little atmosphere compared to downstairs.
We all had entrees. I had the garlic pizza bread which was good, our son had the squid which was tender and tasty and my husband had the scallops and pork belly which were mouth watering delicious.
Our mains were also brilliant. Our son had a burger which we didn't try but by the looks of his empty plate was pretty good. My husband had the chicken fettucine which was creamy and very tasty. I had the duo of duck which - I have to say was the best thing ive tasted for a while. We tried to go back the following sat night just to have the same dish (that's how good it was) but we were turned away at the door as they were fully booked.
In summary the food has definitely improved immeasurably.
Its a shame upstairs has no atmosphere as downstairs is really nice but that would be the only bad thing I would say about The Blacksmith.
We will definitely be back for more but will make sure we book!
