“Good for walking or run”

Point Gellibrand Heritage Park
Reviewed 2 April 2018 via mobile

A nice park to visit for a stroll, bike ride or a run. Views over Melbourne are good but there are better views of the city skyline if you go further around the bay. Park is clean and reasonably well maintained.

I suppose because it is the "Coastal Heritage Park", a lot of it is just coast and shoreline vegetation. Some maritime history is apparent, with the old gun emplacements and ballast quarry. Some signage does explain things, but more could be added. The paths are good and along the way there is shade, seating, and public toilets. As part of a long pedestrian and cycle path, you can travel quite a long way from Williamstown to Altona and beyond.

This is a historic part of Willaimstown and although that it it used to be it is still not well presented. The Time Ball has some detail provided and the area around which is predominately grass is not that well maintained. The entire area could be made more interesting.

Visited on Tuesday 20th June. This is an area of Williamstown which has been preserved with a building from the early part of the Hobsons Bay settlement. We parked the car nearby and went for a closer look at the shot tower. You also get a fantastic view of all the ships coming and going from the Port of Melbourne. There is also a walking track further around the bay if you feel like a bit of exercise otherwise it's a great drive.
