“Easter visit”
Review of Beeston Castle

Enjoyed an Easter Sunday visit to the castle. The carpark was chaos and lots of parking on the grass verges, but then after all the rain every other attraction in this area is having problems. There was an Easter trail for children which definitely needed adult assistance. What other Easter children trail have you come across where one of the answers is the Anglo Saxon poem 'Beowulf'.
The 2 children's entertainers were excellent and kept the children (and parents) engaged on their 'meet the dragon hunter' sessions.
Beeston is always worth the walk to the top just for the view.

As mentioned in other reviews, we were glad to be English Heritage members as there wasn’t much to see. There was a very steep trek to the castle but the views were fab. Certainly not accessible for wheelchairs or people who have mobility difficulties.

Took the Mrs as she loves castles and I haven't been here for at least 25 years.

Entrance fee is a bit expensive. For 2 adults and parking it was just over £17. There's a few things to see on the walk to the top. You have the caves which are worth checking out first. It's a lovely walk round the place. To get to the castle you have to go up the steep hill which is a fair walk but once you're at the top the views are absolutely stunning. You can see for miles around. As others have said, there's not much of the castle left but it's potentially worth a visit if that's you're thing.

If I wasn't a Heritage member I wouldn't visit. At over £7 adult entrance there is no interpretation or audio guide available as other attractions have. The eating facilities are scarce and you have to pay £3 for parking if you're a member or not. Simply not value for money.

This often overlooked castle in Cheshire, is well worth visiting.

It is a pleasant drive through the country lanes to get there, and the car park is a good size and mostly grass so you can pic-nic next to your car most of the time. There is a gift shop and toilets within the curtain wall, and the castle is approached up a steep hill, dogs are welcome but watch for the many rabbits. The walk up to the castle offers spectacular views over Cheshire and on a good day northern Shropshire. The castle itself is on a further hill on top of the one already walked and has a moat; there is not much of a castle left but it is very pleasant and the views have got to be some of the best in the area.

Perhaps not the best place for those needing to take push chairs or the disabled, though there is a flat walk and some-things to see along the curtain walls, but for everyone else it is highly recommended.
