My husband and I decided to dive not just into the food-and-beer part of Prague, but to see its cultural side also :) So we enjoyed one evening here and were absolutely impressed! Not just by the opera but by the building itself. It seemed like the building with these awesome ceiling was a part of a play, so beautiful it is.

One of the landmarks of Prague. majestic building. We did not actually go for any Opera or drama there, however, the building is just great and very impressive structure. A must visit when in Prague.

I didn't see inside the theatre or attend a performance, but I did mange to view the external beauty of the building from different parts of the city. Its is a magnificent building on the bank of the river, and if you are on Charles Bridge you get a great view of it.

Note: This review is about the buildings (both old and new).
The old building of the National Theater is located at the end of the Most Legii, the bridge that leads you to the famous gardens across the river. The old Renaissance Revival architecture building is located prminantly at the bank of the river and can be seen from many areas of old town. It was built in 1844 completed 1881 for arts and cultural purposes. The new building is box office building and the arts display. It is worth to stop by to see the architechure and the display of the arts items in the new building.

The stunning gold roof of the National Theatre makes it very easy to spot, especially if you have an elevated viewpoint. A glorious building.
