I can’t praise this establishment enough! From the second you enter the hotel until the time you check out is a marvellous experience. The check-in procedure was as good as I’ve experienced anywhere in the world - warm welcome, courteous staff and a glass of fizz - we were off to a great start! We were then shown to our room with a guided tour of this wonderful Baroque style hotel and we couldn’t have been more pleased with the facilities. It was beautifully and tastefully decorated and furnished in keeping with the age of the property and including tea and coffee and a mini bar. The bed was very comfortable although we had to request additional pillows which were happily provided. The whole place was spotlessly clean and all of the staff work well as a team with an obvious attention to pride in first class customer service. The breakfast buffet was excellent with enough variety to accommodate most tastes. The Alchymist Grand Hotel & Spa is a true 5 star establishment and is situated perfectly to see the wonderful city of Prague. Highly recommended.

Stayed here with my other half. The building is just over 500 year old and is situated next to the American Embassy and is a very safe area of the city.
The Hotel cost that little bit extra to stay there and is very authentic in the deco inside the rooms and throughout the hotel itself. The staff are awesome and very friendly. Each room has a mini bar that you have to pay for and its not cheap to purchase from it.
Also has a pool and sauna in the lower levels of the hotel. The food is awesome and very fresh.
Its located on the West side of the river but close to the castle in the city.
I would go there again and is more enjoyable in winter months with less people there and costs lower than summert time 10/10

Room tip: Dont use mini bar unless your loaded with spare money

We happened upon the Alchymist Grand Hotel while exploring Prague several years ago and loved it so was very glad to get a reservation there this time. I had a beautiful room, #212, perfect for 1-2 people. The buffet breakfast was the best one Ever! And that's saying a lot! I also had lunch in the dining room and it was also excellent. The price for the room is higher than one needs to pay for a nice place in Prague but - it was worth it. I enjoyed the pool, sauna small fitness room. I heard good things about spa treatments from another couple staying there. They were booked at another hotel at Prague but said when they discovered the Alychmist during their trip, they cancelled their other hotel reservation and moved over that day! Note to the hotel on keeping up with routine maintenance. In my room, the paint on the baseboard needed attention and the two area rugs in the bedroom were due for cleaning. The dining room chairs also could use a once-over. These are small details in the big picture - and that is, this is a great hotel and I'd be delighted to stay there again.

I booked the Alchymist for a 3 day visit for my wife and I for a combined birthday present. After searching through the websites of probably 70+ hotels, I chose the Alchymist due to its wonderful decor which is very much my wife’s taste, the location and the reviews I had read.

I have to say it was certainly the right choice as everything about the Alchymist was wonderful!

Upon arrival we were met at the entrance as we stepped out of our taxi, welcomed to the hotel and our ( very heavy) Case was taken through to reception.

We were seated at a grand desk and offered a glass of sparkling wine whilst we completed the check in process. We were then walked up to our room by a member of the staff who showed us the lounges, bar, and restaurant whilst telling us their opening times.

He told us about the Spa and Pool and also about the daily complimentary cheese and wine served between 4pm - 5pm..... a very nice touch!

He showed us our room and explained about the room safe etc..., then he returned a few minutes later with our case.

The room was beautiful, very ornate with a terrifically comfortable bed. We asked for some additional pillows and an iron which arrived in minutes.

We only ate breakfast at the hotel as we were sightseeing most of the time. However the choice was terrific and the food excellent.

Every member of staff we encountered was extremely efficient and very polite and friendly. However, I have to say a special thank you to the two reception staff and in particular, Pavel who was absolutely terrific.

I spoke to Pavel continually throughout our stay to ask general questions about directions etc... but he also helped me tremendously booking a river boat dinner cruise on one evening and an evening at the Mozart Dinner which I can highly recommend!

In both of the above, Pavel rang the venues and secured us the best seating. It was also very convenient that we were able to pay the hotel for each event rather than having to pay at the venue or through their website.

i have probably had well over 100 hotel stays over the years for business ( especially) and leisure trips through Europe, Asia and the US. I can honestly say that my stay at the Alchymist is possibly the best experience I have had.

The politeness and efficiency of the staff is absolutely first class. The decor is wonderful and the hotel is spotlessly clean.

The location of the hotel is excellent; in a quiet street but within 7 mins walk from Charles bridge which takes you into the Old town.

If I visit Prague again, this hotel would be my first if not only choice. I can’t recommend it strongly enough!

We spent a chilly weekend at the Alchymist and found it charming. The staff is welcoming and helpful (in particular the door man, who works so hard, bless that guy), and they made sure we felt comfortable right from check in. The decor is wonderful, the breakfast is great, and location couldn't be better, with beautiful, short walks to both Prague Castle and the Charles Bridge.
