We were staying at Hotel Kossak and booked all our trips via hotel reception which were with the tour company “See Krakow” very well organised we were told to be at reception 10:30 for pick up and at 10:32 the mini bus arrived to collect us and take us to Auschwitz for all day trip to both Auschwitz and Birkenau. My tip would be to just do the camp in one day as a lot of trips encompass both the salt mine and Auschwitz which is a bit rushed. We got to camp at 12 midday and were met my our guide who took us around Auschwitz which took approx 2hrs guide was excellent and trip very sobering. Then we had a short break for lunch at 2 and were taken the short drive to Birkenau which is 15 mins away. Birkenau was even more chilling than Auschwitz as it was a purpose built extermination camp we had just under 2 hrs at Birkenau again same guide who was excellent. Then a quick coffee break and back on minibus to Krakow. We got back to our hotel around 5pm for a stiff drink. Very thought provoking trip and a must for anyone who thinks we should never forget what happened.
