We were surprised enterins this historic hotel building. The reception area has the feeling of bygone times.Guest room has been modernisided. Our room was quite big with high ceiling. En suite bathroom was fine. Wifi worked well. Bed was comfy.
Breakfast was still "Soviet stil": lithuanian bread, sausages, omelet, bisquits, juice. Not so tasty. But never mind. There is excellent restaurant Charlie´s by the hotel,
Hotel Metropolis was a pleasant experience

The Hotel Metropolis is a Kaunas landmark, once the home of home presidents and ambassadors. Today it is a mid-range hotel that we would recommend.

It is located smack in the centre of town and our room was large and airy. The TV had lots of English channels and the wifi was great.

The only negatives were the breakfast and the staff. The breakfast is barely worth tje 3€ extra per person that it costs, and tbe staff are OK but cold in the Eastern European style.

Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay.

Positives:
Great location, nice old building.

Negatives:
Very poor breakfast - 2.0/10.0 little variety, poorly delivered, warm milk and cold coffee
filthy bathroom, bath was leaking.
dated lights, sockets, bathroom facilities

The place needs an overhaul.

Nice to stay in a hotel with such a history. Room was comfortable enough, though grubby in the corners if you looked. Bathroom was fine. The staff on reception were very friendly and welcoming. They accommodated my request to be at the front on the top floor. It can get quite noisy at night, but that didn't really bother me.
Breakfast was the real downside: very little choice, not replenished quickly enough, and the first morning the coffee tasted of hot water. I've read there are some nearby cafés that do excellent breakfast, so I suggest pay to sleep here but breakfast elsewhere.

This hotel has a great Location, just around the cornet of the main street of Kaunas. Rooms are spacious, however, cold. The building shows the old glamour, however staff has lost it completely.

There is no lift, that makes thing difficult if you are traveling with a lot of luggage.
Which was our case, as we were doing a roadtrip with our 8 months baby.

Breakfast was the poorest we had in all of our trip. We stayed always in hotels in the same price range.
