This is not a large museum. The collections are not extensive, but it is interesting to see the similarity of folk culture to other countries around the Baltic see, including Sweden. For many items you will miss knowledge og Lithuanian history, and the texts are not very informative.

Modest in size but with a very representative collection covering the history of the Lithuanian nation, this museum makes you understand that Lithuania once stretched to the Black Sea and included large parts of what is now Belarussia, allocate minimum of one and a half hour up to 3 hours for the history lovers

This is a modern ,well designed ,medium sized Museum.
Nice costume collection.
Not much shown in terms of fine arts and recent history however.

Wanted to complete the museum tour in Vilnius center. Museum is open till 18:00 last entrance at 17:00. there are several rooms, illustrating history of Lithuania since ancient time.
The best is 2nd floor, actually folk museum. Very impressive reconstruction of old time houses followed by two rooms full of original Lithuanian costumes.
A place not to be missed by anyone interested in local folk history.
