Honesty is a great trait and this place has it: it looks like a themed restaurant and that it is what it is. If you are looking for just a place to fill your belly and eat as cheap as cheap can get, wrong place (although it isn't the most expensive either). If you are one of those guys looking for the "extreme Russian experience" as some of the others here, I have news for you: wrong country. Now, if you are interested to have a good experience while you're in Tallinn, with a different cuisine and an extra cultural touch other than Estonian, then this is a place for you. In my visits there with my friends we enjoyed the meal, the visuals, and atmosphere, and for the whole experience it was a decent price. It is a very nice place to eat and have a good time with your fellows if you are looking for a complete experience.

We had a late lunch at Klafira and... it was ok. Average. Nothing too memorable, I'd say. We ordered a set menu (20€) that included the typical beetroot soup, the dumplings filled with meat, moose stroganoff and pancakes for dessert. Since it's a set menu, the portions are smaller but it's nice to try different dishes :) When we paid, they didn't have change so we had to leave a considerable tip... Not sure if I'll ever come back, to tell the truth. But for a first-ever Russian dining experience, it's not bad.

We are lovers of Russian food but this resturant was a total disaster. The service was automatic, regimented and dismissive. The decor has connotations of the days of the Czar and waiters are dressed in Russian costumes but do not be fooled by this because the food did not resemble russian food on any level. Tastless, and expensive. The chicken dish was inedible appeared to be processed chicken fron a supermarket chain store. . Dumplings in broth were hard lumps of dough in hot water!! Moose strogonoff in sauce resembled strips of leather swimming in thickened milk . Borscht soup actually tasted of beetroot but with lots of sugar so it should have been named beetroot pudding! One of the worst places we have ever eaten, We went to a bar immediatly after and washed away our dissappointment with a shot of good Estonian vodka!

We picked the Kafira based soley on its appearence as we walked past. Our 1st time in a russian resturant so we chose the 4 course set menu as it did look quite nice. It is listed as pearls of traditional russian cuisine--1st course was a very tasty beeroot borshe with game meat pies--- followed on by a siberian pelmeni better known as dumplings and then a meat stroganoff and finished off with 3 blini's with honey--we did enjoy all the courses--wine was about 25% dearer than uk resturants and than they added 20 % vat which was included in all our other resturant price lists so with a tip it was about 100 euro's --- the decor was very great and for a first russian experience i would definetley give it a thumbs out and the staff were both very pleasent

Having visited Russia earlier this year, we were tempted into Klafira by the prospect of reacquainting ourselves with solianka soup, various beetroot options and berry-based desserts. The food fully lived up to our hopes although the massive generosity of the portions meant that we were unable to last the pace until the dessert course. Certainly anyone without a big appetite should consider foregoing either the starter or main course if they wish to exit the restaurant comfortably!

Drinks were reasonably priced, we started with Ukrainian "champagne" and found it to be a tasty and cost-effective alternative to the French version and less expensive than many of the wines on offer (sadly, we were also tempted to quaff a bottle of Chilean red to accompany our beef shashlik!).

Finally, a couple of guides suggested that this restaurant was expensive but we found no evidence of this and spent no more than on previous nights at Olde Hansa and Kuldse Notsu Korts while the ambience of Klafira was superior in our view.
