Monument is lit up with colourful display of images. Musical accompaniment is interesting. Loops run ~5 minutes

It is what you see. A monument - nice, lots of room to take pictures, with guards doing the ol' march across now and again, not really much to say, but if you are in the area, may as well check it out!

Do come here before 3pm to witness the exchange of the Guards. It's worth to catch them. Must visit when you come riga!

This monument definitely has a presence. We didn't have a tour guide but we read about the monument and have seen it in documentaries so knew the meaning behind it. If not with a guide, I would recommend reading about its history to gain a better understanding of its presence in the city.

Erected in the 1930's to commemorate the fallen of the Latvian War of Independence (1918-1920), this large granite column features on top the Goddess Liberty bearing aloft three golden stars (originally representing the three historic divisions of Latvia but after the fall of the the Soviet regime nowadays reinterpreted as being the three Baltic States of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia). For most of the year, two Guards mount half-hourly Honour patrols at its base.
An excellent memorial and worthy of viewing.
