The sculpture is showing how Jan Žižka looked. That's correct. But text on the tag is wrong: "Jan Žižka builded the city." That's not correct. Jan Žižka came a few years after a year when city was build. Text isn't historic correct.

in the main square so if you are walking around the square you'll see it. the thing I remember most about the statue is that I was lining up a shot of it and then realized it wasn't worth it. so, yeah, check it out, but it's not like those cool sculptures you'll see in Prague. not by a long shot.

Jan Zizka Monument is an statue located in the centre of Town Square (Zizkovo Namesti) of Tabor, a city in the Bohemian Region in Czech Republic. He was a leader of hussites, a Pre-Protestant Christian movement, which fought against the imposed Catholic religion in Middle Ages to reform it. One of the most important places of Hussites was the city of Tabor, where there is the Museum in the Town Hall and this statue in Town Square. So interesting to learn about the history of Central Europe.

As others have mentioned he was a well known Hussite commander and the circles around the statue show the dates of all of his victories. He remained undefeated until his death in 1424.

Zizka was the commander of a faction of the Czech Hussite movement based in the town of Tabor. Despite blindness he was an inspiring and very successful commander. The monument depicts him with his disabilities.
