Tavira does not have any beaches in the town. However, you have a short ferry ride (10 minutes) across the river to this Peninsula that runs for many kilometers with beautiful beaches. They have developed beaches where you can rent lounge chairrs and umbrellas, and a number of local easy going restaurants serving great seafood, salads and Sangrias. A must do when coming to the Algarve!

Get to the end of the pier, then pay for a return ferry trip. The ferry is very frequent and off season you don’t half to buy a ticket in advance, but at the height off season there is a ticket kiosk. Once on the island follow the main track over to the beach. There are several bars and restaurants and facilities are really good. You’ll be very surprised at how big and beautiful the beaches are. At the height of season there will be a lot of young people, so mid week term time is quietest.

TAke the small ferry to this pristine island beach. Has all the facilities you need including some great eating places.

Beautiful island that can be reached from a small ferry ride at Quatro Aguas. It only cost €1.50 return. There is a lovely long unspoilt beach. Good area for birdwatching too. There are also some nice areas for a picnic.
