We came to this hotel on the recommendation of our daughter who had stayed there. Lauterbrunnen is a good centre for exploring the Jungfraujoch. You can get cable cars and trains to the alpine meadows and mountain tops around and from there you can walk along the well marked paths. If you are more adventurous you can take a tandem paragliding flight, or even go sky diving.
The hotel is almost at the end of the village and close to the Staubach water fall. We asked for a room with a balcony with a view of the water fall and this worked out well for us. On the days when we didn't want to walk we could take it easy just enjoying the view.
There is no room service, this is just bed and breakfast, but there is tea and coffee available all day long in the lounge.
The staff come round to each table at breakfast time and ask what plans you have for the day and give practical advice on how to achieve them. For example if you have an idea for a walk, they can tell you which cable cars etc you need and how long it is going to take and how difficult it is. This was a great strength of the hotel.
The hotel isn't luxurious, but only claims to be "two star". I can't really tell if this was good value or not because everything in Switzerland seems to be so expensive.
I would recommend this, and would want to stay here again if I visited this part of Switzerland.

Room Tip: Balcony facing the waterfall is best

My mother and I spent 4 nights at Hotel Staubbach. Starting with the warmest welcome at check in we had experienced over 2 weeks in Switzerland and Austria, it only got better at this hotel. I cannot emphasize enough how wonderfully helpful and friendly all of the staff here are. Each morning at breakfast, while making sure the buffet was amply replenished, the hotel staff circulated among the guests, inquiring on how their stay was going, asking about their previous days, and offering very welcome information and suggestions for hikes, tours, activities.

In addition, our room faced the gorgeous view of the Falls, which provided a lovely lullaby through the night.

Lauterbrunnene was the highlight of our trip, thanks to the spectacular scenery and to especially the warmest and friendliest hotel we stayed at. We cannot say enough about the wonderful people who staff this hotel. They knocked themselves over to help their guests and look after every comfort they can. We cannot wait to return.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the waterfalls!

Stayed for 2 nights with husband and 3 kids and glad we chose this hotel. It is approx 0.5 mi from the station and a pleasant walk. The hotel has a distinctly '70's basement vibe with oak paneling in the rooms but the rooms are immaculately clean. We had 2 adjoining rooms on the 3rd floor plus the adjoining dbl room with which we shared the balcony. The balcony made the rooms: the view of the falls, the valley floor, the night skies (and an awesome thuderstorm!) with the background of church bells was amazing. The manager, Angie, and the reception/breakfast staff were all extremely helpful. The food was very good with rich, creamy eggs and delicious muesli. Having coffee/tea almost always available was a plus, as was the free compters/wifi. We were not bothered by the noise of the falls or church bells, but there was early am truck activity below our rooms. The best thing is Lauterbrunnen itself: the Trummelbach falls and the Shilthorn mtn top are not to be missed! Our tip: buy bread, cheese and cold cuts from the coop grocery adjacent to the train station and "picnic" on your balcony.....we loved it (and saved a fortune; dinner for our 5 would have easily topped $100 at even modest places!)

We arrived in Lauterbrunnen from Interlaken. It was a 30 min train journey from Interlaken OST train station. We had a swiss pass so traveling was never a problem. The hotel is about half a mile from the station. There is only one main street so no chance of getting lost. We reached hotel at 11.00 am, little ahead of the check-in time. We were greeted very warmly by the receptionist Frank. He told us that the room would be made available shortly but till that time we were taken to a common TV room (there are no individual Tvs in the rooms) which was very comfortable. We wanted to go for Schilthorn excursion ASAP so Frank made arrangements to keep the luggage and also promised to place our stuff in our room as soon as the room was ready. That was really so nice of him. We immediately left for the excursion and came back only by 5.30 pm in the evening. We were immediately shown our room which was on the extreme left hand corner on the third floor. Our luggage was already there. We had specifically requested for the room after reading some of the reviews.

As soon as we entered the room we were absolutely speechless! We could not have asked for more. The view from the balcony was just amazing. They have kept two chairs and a small table in the balcony so that the guest may enjoy their meals / drinks along with stunning views of the waterfall as well as the mountain.

The medium sized room was very clean. They do not have TV sets or mini bar etc in the room. It is very plain, simple and peaceful. The double bed though made by joining the two single beds, was quite comfortable.

In the morning they provide complimentary breakfast. The restaurant at the ground floor was being managed by a wonderful lady named Mila. We had requested her for some vegetarian breakfast and she really made extra efforts to prepare vegetarian dishes for us during our stay. The buffet was not very elaborate but still good enough.
Staff at Staubbach is amazing. They go out of their way to make you feel at home. We were truly impressed by Frank, Mila and a Polish lady at the front desk (forgetting her name). We would surely visit Lauterbrunnen soon and stay only at Hotel Staubbach.

This hotel was soooo clean, the staff was exceptionally nice and the view...amazing. Our room was small but comfortable. We slept in the bed with the french doors open so we could see and hear the falls. It has the best view in the area since it was the first one opened. The bath tub was great with very hot water and wonderful smelling gel. The breakfast was included. The eggs are from the area, amazing. I loved the muesli. The coffee was fantastic. They had a large spread ---oh and the bacon, to die for! You also had scrambled eggs, cold cuts and cheeses. And these delicious pretzel rolls. It opened at 7:30 a.m. and by 7:20 a.m. people were already hovering around. Ok so the church is right there and you hear the bells but it didn't bother me nor my husband who has sensitive hearing.

Room Tip: Just tell them you want the view of the falls
