Yes the scenery was beautiful. Caves very interesting. Staff friendly. Pool was salt water and sometimes dirty. The hotel is said to be quiet but a lot of the time the pool had large groups of Cuban day guests that had " boom boxes", ate and stood in the pool all day. Myself and another guest did complain but it did not help. Beach is a swamp. Rooms were nice but I could not leave my windows open as Cuban staff came right up to them asking to spend the night with me. ( I am solo and 68 ). Taxi prices are crazy. The hotel and drivers quote 40 cuc to the city but will do it for 25. You can get the local bus on the road for 2 cuc. Did not enjoy the food. I paid in advance. Very little variety compared to other hotels of that value. If there was a large group at the hotel food was better than if there was only a few people. I was there for 2 weeks which is too long. Hotel is all Europeans staying 1-2 days and as a Canadian there alone there is no one to talk to. Many steps if you have any walking problems. Best rooms are near the pool area. One room at the beach was broken into and you have to walk up many steps to get to the bar, pool, dining room....Yes the scenery was beautiful. Caves very interesting. Staff friendly. Traveled in Cuba for over 20 years, mostly alone and never had a problem but was groped by a taxi driver from Cienfuegos to the hotel and approached and followed by a man masturbating on a small road at the hotel. No entertainment at night.More
