“Rustic Vibe - Chalet”

Theodore Wirth Golf Course
Reviewed 24 September 2017

We attended a wedding here. Really nice venue. Our wedding was about 100 people and we fit comfortably in the main room for the ceremony as well as the meal and then music and dancing. There is a 2nd room at other end of hall for bar orders and a smaller mingling area. Lovely to be able to go outside to many benches for a break from the crowd. Fire pits are for your use. Only negative was only 2 bathroom stalls....for a large group, we had to wait from time to time....not a huge deal. Temps were in the high 80's so it was a little warm inside but later in evening it started to cool off a little more inside....I never needed my sweater! There is a hike from parking lot up many steps. You could drop off near base if bkdg for those with mobility issues.

This is a review for the Theodore Wirth Chalet, not the golf course. The chalet is a beautiful building that houses the proshop for the golf course. It's situated nicely in the park surrounded by mature, beautiful trees and plenty of grass. During our visit, we spent most of the time on the second floor for a wedding and reception. The chalet is a 100 year old structure, built in 1816. It has an old feel yet is modern and clean. If you're looking for a place for a wedding, a reception, a special event or meeting space, this is a great place with an unbelievable view.

Have played the Theodore Wirth Golf Course on and off for about 20 years. It has always been a very picturesque, interesting, and challenging course to play. It's very hilly, an unusual characteristic for courses in the area, never dull. Views of the skyline, like on hole #3, are stunning, yet it seems like you're playing on a course up north. Hole #17 is a great golf hole that feels like you're in the wilderness. It ranks with any single golf hole in the metro area. I stopped playing Wirth about 4-5 years ago because the conditions of the greens and fairways were terrible -- NOT any more. The greens are in terrific shape. They roll true, look great, and are quick. The fairways are lush, very green, and provide a good foundation for iron shots. The cart paths need some work, but, aside from that, the course is a joy. Playing early in the morning on a week day, 3 of us were able to finish our round in about 3 hours. Wirth, along with Baker, in my opinion, are the two best public courses in the area.

So out of the ordinary and wonderful landscaping and manicured. Just have to love the sky line as you golf along. They have both regular and a 9 hole course.

there is a playground for the kids, also a swimming area, it's quite good, and in the park, there is a wildflower garden, I just walk a small part, I wish I could walk more if time allowed
