“Peaceful”
Review of Taylor Pond

Reviewed 1 May 2017 via mobile

Very remote and Peaceful, we stayed at he Taylor Pond State campground. The caretaker was very welcoming. The campground has very limited amenities but we were aware of that beforehand. The pond is serene...cant wait to go back and bring our kayaks.

We got there on a Saturday morning and left Monday afternoon. What a GORGEOUS place! Everything about it was wonderful. The caretaker (Nick) was very sweet and helpful. The park is quiet, clean, and well maintained. We stayed on site #3 was was perfect for us since we have a large trailer. It was closed off by trees and across from the lake. Great walking distance for the kids to play in the water. his 800+ acre "pond" was just beautiful! Nice primitive campsites by boat, all with outhouses. Two beaches on coasts besides the one by the main campground. A very nice, long trail to in the park and a short drive to Silver Lake trails by car. Ausable Forks is about 10 minutes away by car and a cute little town that has nice diners, grocery store, bar, church, playgrounds, and gas. Taylor Pond doesn't have a playground or activity plans, but if you have kids that like the outdoors, they will love this place! The lake is clear and great for scenery and loaded with loons, and fish. Can't beat $16 per night at this little dream place. I can't wait to go back!

Taylor Pond is a very small but clean and well maintained state campground. It is $16 a night, primitive camping, outhouses, no water or electricity here. There are boat rentals, both canoe and fishing type boats for rent and a boat launch as well. There are Walleye, Large & Small Mouth Bass, Northern Pike and Perch in the pond. Very nice spot for dry camping to experience a taste of the Adirondacks away from the hustle and bustle of city or tourist attraction type places. Well worth the stay. The driveway to the campground sits directly across from the Silver Lake Mountain ledges which are beautiful. The access for the trail to climb Silver Lake is just down the road a few miles.
