And the drive from Moab is very scenic too! There is limited camping at the roadend. The red towers look stunning when the sun goes down, just light up.

After dinner, we hopped in the car and headed back up UT 128 along the Colorado River. We were on a mission: to catch sunset at the Fisher Towers where there is a 3.9-mile trail that gets moderate traffic. It’s an out and back trail that is easy to follow, past rock art and enormous red sandstone pinnacles. The last major tower at the 1.5-mile mark is called The Titan. The trail then heads out onto a spectacular ridge with majestic views of the towers.

We drove about twenty miles on UT 128 and then headed up the two-mile dusty gravel road and arrived right on time, just as the sun was beginning to set and the towers were being day-glowed in red light. It was absolutely magical cathedral light on a rocky tapestry that literally throbbed with color.

Watched the Comancheros the night before and so to hike into and see the same land the next day was fun. Plan on 3- 4 hours unless you are making it a speed event... And there is a sign when you reach the end of the trail. Take plenty of water its a wonderful hike in the fall - would love to hike it again.

This was an unexpected gem on our scenic Utah 128 drive to Moab. Even if you just drive in and stare up at the towers you will be impressed. Add climbers to the scene and it's perfect. And be sure to take a glance back up 128 to the area you just drove through; the view is beautiful.

A good out and back walk with great views of red sandstone cliffs both close to and at a distance. On occasion it is not easy to distinguish hikers and climbers paths, but overall the trail is not difficult. Good views of intrepid climbers add to the interest. Good car parking with trailhead facilities, well signed from main road.
