A really beautifully designed station with some stunning architectural features. Worth a visit to the food court on the lower level. Reasonably priced food for a quick lunch snack.

I’m a fan of history, architecture and trains in general. I love to see the old railway stations, whether they have been maintained, restored or not (each has its own value). This one has been restored very well. I don’t know how much they kept to the original style , but it seems to be quite a bit. In the midst of the historic building they do have a good bit of the new as well, as they have added numerous shops, in modern form down one of the corridors. Most of the exterior is in very good condition.

The train operations here were pretty smooth. Signage on train arrivals and departures were plentiful.

There is the typical activity you would expect around such a station in the midst of a major tourist city. There are a mix of business and tourist travelers. There was also an art class sitting on the floor sketching the architectural components.
You will also see a good deal of the poor and homeless, mostly on the grounds outside. I did not observe any active begging.

There are lots of places to eat and shops. It’s easy to get around. Busy location but not as overwhelming as grand central in NY.

A beautifully restored building with outstanding architecture for its time. Amazing even for our day.

There is a large mall that has stores of most modern malls along with many restaurants of ever type. Consider this a place to eat on your visit to the Capital or a way to replenish your lost item just walking distance away.
