Under construction so we could only admire its beauty from afar. Was still awe-inspiring from every view point though!

It has been under construction for the last 2 years since it has been sinking into the ground. Although it is interesting to see up close, you cannot go into it at this point. Most of our photos looked better from the other side of the mall rather than up close.

We biked around all sides of the monument though much was closed around it for construction. On one side is where all the food trucks are for a great picnic lunch.

Visible from large parts of Washington, it’s worth walking round as part of a tour of the capital. Unfortunately there are works going on around the base which is closed off to the public so you can’t get right up to the monument base.

You can no longer go inside, but it does not disappoint from a distance. Visited during the day with a segway guide and then again that night walking. The monument has a different and more beautiful feel at night . Would recommend both day and night visits
