Description: Guests savor genuine Southern Coastal Italian cuisine in a setting reminiscent of a stylish Milan boutique. Framed designer scarves adorn the walls in a creative and colorful homage to Italian fashion. The ceiling gives way to coves of hand-painted murals celebrating Italian culture, including the stunning portrait of famed opera singer, Placido Domingo, in the room named in his honor. During warm-weather months, the front wall of floor-to-ceiling windows open onto an outdoor sidewalk patio, adding a touch of Northern Italy to the Georgetown streetscape, creating one of the most sought after dining spots in Washington. Since owner Franco Nuschese blazed onto the DC dining scene over twenty years ago, Cafe Milano has been a power center for diplomats, politicians, journalists, broadcasters, lobbyists, entertainers, and all who enjoy fine Italian food and gracious attentive service.

Nice selection of meals on the menu, from pizza to "steak-for-two". A bit pricey but great quality of food and service. The noise level is high so be prepared for that. I would go back and recommend.

Rude service, mediocre food. You won't be treated well here unless you are "somebody". I have never experienced such discourteous service for paying guests. We spent the day sightseeing and had booked a late dinner for 3 - my husband & I and our son - we were doing college visits. We had high expectations since this was recommended to us by a friend, but apparently we didn't fit the restaurant's guest protocol. We were rushed, felt as if we were inconveniencing the staff ( who never once smiled at us), and completely given the cold shoulder during our visit here. Food was just OK, but even the best cusine can't make up for the rude service. Can't recommend this restaurant.

LOVED this place-very cool, professional/political vibe. My friend and I took our two 16yr old daughters to visit Georgetown University and this was our big dinner out. They loved the atmosphere and the food was absolutely delicious. I recommend the veal/spinach ravioli.
The people watching was super fun as well-

We made reservations at this luxury Italian Restaurant for lunch while visiting Washington DC for my Birthday Celebration Weekend. We live about 45 minutes away in Middleburg, VA.

We started with ordering wine. We then had the mussel and clam appetizer with grilled bread. We then split everything. Chopped mixed salad with Lemon Dressing. Then followed by a cherry tomato capellini pasta, then followed by the branzino-cooked whole roasted and... filleted served with a delicious light broth and mixed vegetables. Each course was elegantly served and timed perfectly.

I was delighted to see their branding ( servers had special logo ties and they had Cafe Milano branded olive oil at every table.

Don’t forget to ask them to bring out their marinated garlic and olives. SO good. They used to bring them out to each table but now you have to ask for them. (No Charge).

This is a very sophisticated restaurant with a slightly older( and wealthy) clientele. On weekdays you have a very distinguished political crowd. (Bill Clinton used to hang here a lot). Do expect to “pay up”.

Cafe Milano is a DC go to in Georgetown. Pricey but good food always. Wine list is extensive, high end but good options! Service is above average... but could be improved. Bar is good option for solo diners.. bartender was quite attentive and offered wine tasting while waiting for my date
