El Chalan is difficult to spot unless you know where it is located as you have to take a few steps down from I Street to its entrance. Its pisco sour is potent, its fish ceviche divine and my favourite dish is the goat stew. But you can also get a few appetisers like the batatas rellenos, the ceviche and the braised hearts, which taste like steak. The lomo saltado is also very good.

Good and delicious food, including the lomo, the aji de gallina and the causa, small but cute place. Horrible service, when we went all the personal were busy to attend us. It is a good place but you have to wait a lot.

The chicken which was to be their signature dish was dry with no taste. Peruvian style was not evident. Very popular at dinner. Think it's the prices that attract.

I went to this place a couple days ago. The anticuchos were unbelievable!!! El seco was super yummy, also. However, don't bother eating the ceviche. That ceviche doesn't taste like the real one (i was born and raised in Peru) plus they need to import Peruvian corn (the US once giant work) and add cancha to it.
The waiters were really friendly.

I've been there several times and love the food! Heard the same from a number of people - including Peruvians themselves. Entrance and ambience could be better given that this is a baseament Restaurant. However, while thats a bit of turndown, food still makes it worth the visit!
