I've been going here since I lived in DC for a year in the mid 1990s. This restaurant by Chef Andres (and he has some great ones in DC) is a great place to go with a group, since you can try many things. They have standards like jamon, manchego, garlic shrimp, and patatas bravas, but also more adventurous items. Sea urchin, trout roe, pork with foie gras. Great cheese selection beyond the standard fare. Last time I was in town I was solo, so had some happy hour offerings at their convivial bar. They had a a free sherry tasting that evening, too, so that was fun. Restaurant has been redecorated--not staid at all. A contrast to folks on the Hill.

We enjoyed dinner here in late December and LOVED the experience. The restaurant itself has a great electric feel to it with bright modern colors and artistic design (like the bathroom sinks...you'll have to check them out for yourself!).

Our orders came out in a timely & appropriate rhythm with excellent recommendations from our server. Due to the holiday week, we enjoyed many clementine-themed items that each had a unique and fresh taste.

MUST TRY: Ferran Adriá' liquid olives!

Large modern, casual, bordering on too loud music. Excellent, large menu of a variety of tapas. Attentive service. Good for casual dining although the price is a bit hefty for the casual dining environment- will need at least 3 tapas plates each

Jaleo was our family's choice for a nice dinner on a recent trip to Washington D.C. This is a tapas restaurant that was a lot of fun because it provides the opportunity to order a variety of Spanish dishes. Our waiter was very helpful and patient as we ordered several rounds of dishes - it seemed like we were intent on trying almost everything on the menu. The food was very tasty but I did think it lacked some of the zesty flavor that I expected in a Spanish restaurant. It provides the opportunity to order unique dishes like octopus, sea urchin, rabbit and others. Plus you can enjoy a variety of hams from the legendary Iberico pigs of Spain. We would easily return here for a tasty, fun meal in a lively part of Washington D.C.

Went here for dinner on our first night in DC. Not only did they have a dedicated gluten free menu but you could also have a tasting menu designed specifically for gluten free. My partner in a coeliac, so we both enjoyed a GF tasting menu! It was absolutely amazing- had a range of dishes that took us through a Spanish culinary journey and not a bad price for $55 a head! Service was fab- a highly recommended venue!
