We had fun browsing the extraordinary book selection and enjoyed one breakfast and one brunch. Good eggs and bacon omelettes, quinoa fruit plate, avocado toast and rather small good coffee with refills. Although we got there at 9:00 each morning, the cafe was nearly full and waiters seemed harried.

The store is lovely, always busy and open late. We ate dinner here and it was great. Good service and lovely food.

This restaurant received good reviews so we were excited to visit. Plus, it's part of a bookstore. Great concept. We had a party of six. Two ordered crab cake sandwich, which was a disappointment. I Ordered chicken pot pie, which was most like chicken soup. The scallops were excellent. The apple pie was good but the peach cobbler was so-so. Then we waited 20 minutes for the check and when it came it was completely mixed-up. We had to help the waiter straighten it out.

"Kramerbooks", as we discovered many years ago, is a simply wonderful Bookshop, and we keep coming back here when we visit Washington, D.C.

This time around, we once again purchased some History/Politics books, and since we were staying in the area for a week, we took a chance on ordering a Biography of Walt Whitman - happily (with persistent follow-up on our part), we got it on the day of our departure, and we particularly thank Colby for his help in enabling this delivery.

"Afterwords Cafe" I tried, on my own, on one of the evenings of our stay : depressing surroundings, very mediocre food, poor value, were my conclusions - so, in future, I'll stick with the consistently impressive Bookshop.

A trip to Kramerbooks offers a good cafe and a strong selection of fiction and nonfiction books. One of these book shops you can't enter without finding something you need to buy. Service is efficient and friendly.
