Agree with other reviewers that the best thing is the ornate arch. Worth a quick visit just to see that. Another thing easily missed is the Chinese figures painted on the pedestrian crossing. Look down as you cross the road!

The usual China towns. The entry to this was like the entry to many other china towns. Just really wanted a photo of the entry over the road. Walked by, it seemed a little rough at the arch.

Nothing so excited about it. Kinds of old area for Chinese. The bad thing about it is the smell of the food all over the area once you cross inside it

Small but compact only a couple of blocks. We ate at wok and woll. The food was very good with so much we took some home the prices were very reasonable and the place was clean. It was clean the shops were crowded and the owners did not speak English, but quality and prices were reasonable. Did not know DC had a Chinatown. The arch was very nice.

20 years ago Chinatown was Wall to Wall family run Chinese restaurants, acupuncturists, martial arts studios and gift shops. Unfortunately, once the Verizon Center was built those small, family run businesses were replaced by Bed, Bath & Beyond and chain restaurants.

The Friendship arch is still there and it’s intricacies are beautiful, but it makes me sad to see McDonald’s where there was once a larger, thriving community.
