“Great Place to Hike for Novices”

Silly Mountain Park
Attraction details
Reviewed 14 March 2017

Several trails, a couple more vertical than the others. No gear required - other than water, a hat and good shoes. Do NOT try this in the summer or heat of the day! It's easy going, but in the intense heat and sunshine, you could suffer. Go early morning, or Fall-Winter. Enjoy a walk in the park.

I hiked with a group of friends who were at various skill levels. This hike provided a mix of easy, moderate and challenging trail, some of it quite rocky. We hiked early in the day, took things slow, and stopped often. It wasn't too warm, so one 20 oz. bottle of water was enough for each person. I like to use two hiking poles to help with ascending and descending, but some preferred to hike without poles. There was plenty of parking and the lot IS posted with a sign warning you to keep valuables out of sight, and, of course, lock your vehicle. The port a potty at the trailhead was decent enough, ADA compliant, and had toilet paper.

Love Silly mountain. A very nice place to visit. I loved the botanical type walk around the base of the mountain. Place cards stationary to let you know what type of vegetation, trees, cactus, etc.., there are in the Sonoran desert. Perfect for everyone of all ages

We loved this trail! Gets your heart rate up hiking the steep parts, offers amazing views of the Superstitions, and benches tucked in just the right places to rest and enjoy the scenery along the way.
