The facility and rooms were clean, the staff was very nice and they now serve hot & cold breakfast items. There are a few eating establishments within walking distance and there is a nice beach a quick drive away.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. It isn't luxurious but has all the amenities (gym, pool, hot breakfast, dining area, friendly staff). It's a good value. Near to Eureka, Fern Grove, downtown Arcata, etc.

Guy at front desk was rude and very inflexible when we asked to change to another room with queen beds cos our booking.com reservation was for a queen room w accessibilty apparently (which we didn’t need). And he was so adamant about not moving us to another room that wasn’t as dark inside. He became rude and taunted when I asked to speak to his manager, probably cos she wasn’t in that day. Likely just a case of a bad employee cos everyone else at the hotel was good.

Hi,
We booked (in advance) and asked for the ground floor since we had a lot of luggage and we mentioned that I am not using elevators because of health problem.
When we arrived, the staff was “too busy” to give us minimum attention.
They were almost angry on us when we asked to try and change the room.
Beside them the stay was OK, the room, the staff and breakfast.

Clean rooms and an unexpectedly good breakfast. Great service & employees. It was a modern, normal, chain-hotel experience, and they are trying hard in this time of covid, and I give them a lot of credit for that. Unfortunate location, though. It's surrounded on all sides by homeless vagrants in cars and tents--which is the norm in Arcata, we discovered. And there are no good food/restaurant options in the area, so prepare to go to one of the local (and rustic) grocery stores, or just bring your own food. Rooms have a fridge and a microwave, which helps. Surprisingly expensive. We paid San-Francisco prices for a room...in Arcata, which frankly, if we are being honest, is a very dingy place. That said, this Hampton Inn is surrounded by other chain hotels, and by the looks of them...well let's just say I'm really glad we sprung for this hotel. Definitely within easy striking distance of the redwoods, which is why we were there. In summary, great hotel, dingy area, redwoods were amazing, the culture and culinary scene not so much.
