This place was pretty good. However, we had just walked to the hotel from the pier & dropped off our luggage & was STARVING. I got the chicken, bacon pizza with a Caesar salad. I can’t complain too much about the pizza. The crust was thin, the bacon was delicious as was the chicken. It could have been more sauce though. My friend got a vegan pizza that she devoured, she had to create her own without cheese. We sat outside on the back patio & the weather was perfect. The chips as an appetizer hit the spot too with their own aioli dipping sauce.

Thought we'd stop by to look around and get a drink in the early afternoon. We were met with open arms and stayed quite a while to enjoy drinks, snacks and their interesting novelties. We will return again to enjoy their live music.

We stopped in for lunch. Great daiquiri's Ordered the taco salad (with beef...it's shaved beef not ground...and it was very flavorful) and a burger and chili fries. The burger was just okay. The fries just okay. The service was a bit robotic. The waiter didn't look at you were he interacted and when my husband ordered chili fries he said and I quote, I'll bring you a bowl of chili on the side. I ordered an additional shot of rum for my daiquiri and he began telling me that it was going to cost almost as much as a whole other daiquiri which was off-putting. I didn't ask how much it was, I just asked for it. Just like the chili fries....we just wanted what we ordered......we weren't trying to find the cheapest way to eat lunch. We didn't appreciate his "el cheapo" suggestions at all, but since he clearly was concerned with our finances, frugalness was certainly reflected when it came time to leave the tip.

We came here for just a quick salad and bread sticks. We sat on the patio on the water. Both were great, but the bread sticks were so good with the dipping sauce. The pizza's looked like they had a thin crust and pretty decent, but we didn't try it. The waiter was very attentive.

Don't be misled by the retro facade; the food in here is both reasonably priced and delicious. Yes, this restaurant is, in layout and decor, and intentional throwback to mid-20th century Catalina, including the checkered tablecloths and the peanut shells on the floor. But try the lasagna, the tuna, the pastrami, the spaghetti, the pizza, etc. Fresh and flavorful every time. And the drinks will not disappoint either. We were in restaurant-choked Avalon for two days recently and surprised ourselves by coming back here twice, for lunch on one day and for dinner on another. It was that good!
