“Wonderful Getaway”
Reviewed 2 February 2012

A group of us from all over the states get together once a year at the end of January and selected the Coombs House Inn this year. What a delight! Some of us had a private room and others shared. Arrangements for all were very nice. One of the best beds I've ever slept in. One of the rooms had a parlor where our group could meet privately, but there was always plenty of room in the main house to gather.

Friday night we were fortunate to have Lady Lynn at the complimentary wine tasting and she told us all about the reconstruction project and history of the property, which enhanced our stay.

We walked everywhere and enjoyed our visits to the parks, the Raney House, Orman House and John Gorrie State Museum, as well as along the waterfront. The shops are plentiful, friendly and unique. Our favorite restaurants were the Owl Cafe (Owl Tap Room, too), Caroline's Dining on the River, Up the Creek Raw Bar and Hole In The Wall. Oysters and other great seafood everywhere!

A highlight was a trip to the Dixie Theatre where we saw an Elvis impersonator along with a sold out crowd. The venue changes constantly, but if you want tickets, call or go to the theater first thing!

All in all a terrific weekend for our little group.

Room Tip: The Azalea room is just inside the back door on the ground floor of the main house. No need to go o...

Rooms are well-appointed, furnished and clean. Lots of hot water pressure for an old home. Delicious breakfast. Excellent staff. 24/7 honor bar costs $5/drink; free wine at 5pm. Very easy walk to small downtown and good, inexpensive restaurants. Ate oysters all weekend!

This is my first time in Apalachicola, FL. We were passing through on our way to Biloxi, MS.
We were greateded kindly, given restaurant suggestions and a brief tour. Our breakfast dietary requests were written down.
The night was lovely, bed comfortable, the furnishings were beautiful, room very clean.
When we woke for our much anticipated breakfast we were surprised when the only hot item offered was a pancake. Quite a disappointment for the lovely accommodations.
All in all, we enjoyed our visit and ate breakfast elsewhere.

We will be back to the Coombs House! Our stay was in the Jasmine room, the accommodation's were perfect. The room was impeccable, and so were the people working there. Everyone was friendly and helpful, guest and employee's. Checkin was smooth. Tea and coffee with cookies at 3pm then wine at 5pm. An "Honor Bar " if needed. We rode our bikes all around town, had lunch at "Papa Joes", dinner at "Up The Creek" and finished with a drink at the "Verandah". The next morning breakfast was the best. They have all the usual B & B layout, but they also have a day to day special. We had a breakfast casserole with egg, potato, and veggies. the plate also included fresh fruit and toast.
This was our first time to Apalachicola, we have no need to try any where else.
