Our stay was excellent, All the reviews are correct. We stayed in the garden cabana. My first memory is of the wonderful smell of wood as you enter. Follow by the distant view of the ocean. Every thing is well finished and decorated. All the amenities you could imagine. The pool and honor bar are great.

We appreciate your kind service and hospitality. Tanya,Beaulah and Fransisco are very attentive and very good people. I really felt like we were staying with some good friends.
Lets not forget about the house dog "Mara". She is a joy. We spoiled her and she followed us up and down the beach. She even showed up for dinner at Capricorn restaurant a ways up the beach.

We stayed in the Garden Cabana at Cocotal in March and enjoyed our trip completely. The resort is very well kept, the staff is incredibily friendly and helpful... It was our first trip to Belize and couldn't imagine anything better... Our room was well kept, clean and spacious... The kitchenette & BBQ were fantastic, as the island is pricey for eating out...With Cocotal Inn & Cabanas you basically have your own private oasis, with only the 3 rental units the resort for the most part is to yourself... There is a common bar/pool area which is really good for socializing with other guest and staff members... Fransisco the groundskeeper is amazing! We had some great conversations with him, and from him chopping down coconuts for us, giving us the tour of the gardens, offereing to get us the catch of the day from local fisherman, he helped make our trip most enjoyable...All of our excursions and transportation to and from the hotel was arranged by Beaulah and everything worked out great! She recommended the Bacalar Chico tour, and it was well worth it!! Thanx Again Beaulah!!If we were to head to Belize again (which I'm sure we will), we would not hesitate to stay with Tanya at Cocotal Inn!!!Thanx again for making our trip amazing, Fransisco, Beaulah & Tanya!!

We stayed at the Cocotal Inn and Cabanas in the beach Casita in March 2009. I found it to be a tranquil and beautiful place.
The rooms were kept very clean as a cleaner came to clean every other day.
Fransico, the caretaker was very personable, and it was important to him that the people staying there were happy. The grounds were kept spotless. He was very knowledgeable about the island and was more than happy to share his time.
Tanja the owner, was very helpful and friendly, as was all of the staff.
The dog Maura was a doll and I still miss her, she watches out for the people staying there.
It was our first time in Belize and we thought it was a wonderful trip because the accommodations were excellent the the country was unbelizable!.
The restaurants on the beach were very good. My recommendations are Sweet Basil(best coconut shrimp ever!), Capricorn(best breakfast), AJi (very romantic).

No compliants at all!

Hi Tanja, Fransico and Maura

We stayed at the Cocotal in mid January. The property was as I hoped it would; it was perfect. All buildings were in great condition, and it didn't have that tropical musty/mildew smell that some places have. We stayed in the casita. It was great. We had a lot of room to spread out. We could have used a bigger fridge though. We also got quite a few tv channels as well.

The honor bar was really convenient. We couldn't get an internet signal in the casita, but could connect at the honor bar area. They also have a prepaid phone to use, with phone cards to buy there. They had snorkle gear, kayaks and bikes to use. Tanya was there and was great. I think she really has a true interest in getting to know her guests & trying to meet their expectations, and really wanted to hear what her guests had to say regarding her property. Francisco, the caretaker, even took us out conch diving. He then spent hours cleaning the conch. It was really fun. You won't get that personal attention at a big resort.

The only disappointments I had were about the island itself. The road was impossible to travel after a good rain, even with a bicycle. Most people ride their bikes, 4 wheelers, motorcycles along the beach path instead. This does get a bit annoying while trying to relax near the beach, and there is a constant "highway" of traffic behind you. However, this is the case with any property along the beach. There was a lot of garbage along the shore and in ditches, but the resorts do a pretty good job of cleaning up. I was disappointed to see this. Very few garbage cans either. I wanted to spend a day just picking up garbage. The bugs did get a little bad at times, and you definately needed to spray every day.

We did choose to take the bikes nearly every day, because the road was so bad. Trouble was, every time we wanted to go to town, it was a 5 mile ride (roundtrip) in the sand. It was fine, but it made you really think if you really needed to go to town. We didn't know there was a grocery store at Captain Morgan's, just a five minute walk, until late in our stay.

Our favorite restaurant was the Beach N Kitchen. It was a short bike ride, and it was well worth it. Food at the restaurants, and grocery stores are very expensive. Expect to pay almost double would you would in the USA for certain items. Food was definately not as cheap as I would've hoped.

All in all, I was completely happy with the Cocotal. If I travel to Ambergris Caye, I would stay here again. All of the staff was spectacular, and had a genuine willingness to make your stay wonderful. Thanks a million Tanya!
